Summary
Zenless Zone Zerohas been out for a little over a week now, and while there are a handful of small complaints - likethe lack of human male charactersandthe game not telling people to “git gud” enough- it seems to have gone down pretty well with the HoYoverse faithful. However, there does seem to be one lingering issue that has split the fanbase down the middle, and that’s the game’s TV sections that players can use to navigate Hollows.
The first time you’re introduced to one of these TV sections is during Belle and Wise’s rescue of Billy Kid and Anby Demara right at the start of the game. You’re essentially controlling a Bangbooas either Wise or Bellewhile you run through a Hollow, which is depicted as a series of TV screens you make your way across. It’s a neat little break from the standard gameplay, but it seems like a significant number of fans aren’t too pleased with it.
You’ll be able to find several threads across Zenless Zone Zero’s two subreddits, full of people either hating the TV Mode, defending it from people that hate it, or hating the people that defend it. Reddit user No-Decision-266 is one such person, who thinks that the mode is getting “too much unnecessary hate,” urging the devs to keep it around as it’s what “makes Zenless Zone Zero so unique from the rest of Hoyo’s games.”
Zenless Zone Zero Fans Both Hate And Love TV Mode
On the other side of the coin, you have fans that hate how much the action is interrupted by characters like Fairy and Wise, who both constantly halt progress by talking so much.In a different thread, a Reddit user called Seattle_exile goes in on the mode, claiming that it fails to show off the mystery and intrigue of Hollows as a concept, and that “the board is incrediblydulllooking compared to the rest of the game.” Reddit user Zzz05 also isn’t a fan of spending money to pull characters, only to see them briefly during combat sections.
Then you have the inbetweeners, as there are many that don’t mind the existence of the TV mode, but argue that it needs a lot of work. Reddit user Slush_Magic thinks that “it needs streamlining more than anything,” referencing the aforementioned interruption issues. There are quite a lot of varying opinions floating around right now, but the only party in this I feel sorry for is Hoyoverse. Good luck finding a solution that makes everyone happy guys, you’re going to need it.
