Summary

Update 19:33 BST 17-07-2025:Kick has surprisingly banned Norme’s no-sleep attempt, causing him to try and move over to streaming on Twitter.

YouTubehas finally removed content creator Norme’s no-sleep world record attempt stream after more than 250 hours, although he’s sadly continuing his dangerous attempt over onKick.

If there’s one thing that the internet has taught us over the years, it’s that a lot of people will do wild things for fame and clout. There’s no better recent example of this thanYouTuber Normee’s attempt to break the world record for consecutive days without sleeping. The record that Norme is trying to break is held by Randy Gardner, who stayed awake for 264 hours in 1964.

Even thoughthis record was actually already beaten by Robert McDonald in 1986(who stayed up for 19 days straight) and isn’t recognised by Guinness World Records anymore because of how dangerous it is, that hasn’t stopped YouTuber Norme from attempting to break it. Norme had been streaming for 11 days straight without sleep, but it seems that YouTube has finally stepped in.

YouTube Takes Down Norme’s No-Sleep World Record Attempt

Norme’s YouTube stream has been going on for a while now,but it went viral as he hit the 200-hour mark and viewers became more and more concerned about his healthas he started passing out, hallucinating, and making less and less sense as time went on. Donations came with messages begging him to get some sleep before he did permanent damage to himself while everyone tried to get YouTube to step in.

I hope this goes without saying, but this is an incredibly stupid record to try and break for anyone, let alone without any medical staff present. The effects that more than 24 hours without sleep can have on the body are bad, let alone 11 days.

After 250 hours of constant streaming and no sleep, YouTube has finally done something about it and removed Norme’s most recent video for breaking “community guidelines”. The other livestreams from his attempt have also been removed, although it seems that he hasn’t been outright banned from the platform.

While you might be hoping that YouTube removing the most recent stream would cause Norme to stop and finally get some sleep,he’s sadly still going and now streaming on Kick instead. It’s not clear what’s going to happen to Norme after all this is over and even though some people are calling it fake and theorising that some of the streams are pre-recorded, the videos showing Norme pass out and hallucinate unfortunately make it seem all too real.
