Clem is an icon inWarframe. This little Grineer NPC will follow you on some missions, proclaiming his infamous lines “Clem” and “Grakata”. Who exactly is this defector Grineer though? Here, we are going to go over all you need to know about Clem.
This will cover how Clem came to be, the origin of his name, and his place in the game. Clem isn’t essential to every part of the story, so this won’t contain any massive spoilers for newer content. To fully understand Clem’s place in the universe, we’ll also take a quick look at the Grineer and how their faction works.
The Grineer
Simply put, the Grineer are a faction ofmilitary clones.As clones, they are produced in a factory-like manner. Grineer wereoriginally slaves of the Orokinbut during The Old War, they became weaponized.

Eventually, the Orokin Empire crumbled, but the Grineer remained andbegan following two Grineer queens called the ‘Twin Queens’.These two twins serve as the rulers for all Grineer, which areengineered to be loyal to them.So, where does Clem fit into this?
Clem & The Grineer
Clem was produced like other Grineer, butdue to a mutation, he doesn’t have bioengineered loyalty to the Twin Queens.As such, he has a degree of free will that led to himdefecting from the Grineer.
This mutation is the reason why Clemlooks different from a typical Grineer.Overall, he is shorter and can only his name and gun of choice;“Clem” and “Grakata”.
How Do You Meet Clem?
Clem first comes into your life by way of Darvoduring the quest A Man Of Few Words.During this quest, Darvo wants you torescue Clem, who is held prisoner on Uranus.
After completing this quest, Clem will be freed, and you’re able to thenfind him at any unlocked relay on the map where he is the Medallion trader for Steel Meridan.At times, he may instead befound next to Darvo.
Steel Meridian is a faction ofGrineer defectors,making Clem fit in perfectly.
Darvo’s Weekly Missions
Once A Man Of Few Words has been completed, you can then doweekly missions for Darvo, which are called ‘Help Clem’.During these missions, you and Clem will complete asurvival missiontogether.
How Did Clem Get His Name?
Where does the name Clem come from? Interestingly,this word predates the mutated Grineer.Klem is a word often said by Grineer; for example,“get klem” means “get them”.This is often heard when you first encounter a group of Grineer.
Overall,‘klem’ just means ‘them’.As another example, you can sometimes hear the Grineer say “Sprear oot, furund klem!”, which means “Spread out, find them!”. Clem’s name and entire being is a bit of apopular meme within some Warframe communities; he definitely has some loyal fans.
