Summary
Rangers inConcordare characters who are meant to be able to be played in a variety of scenarios, excelling in any team composition. These characters have a variety of different abilities, each kind of dipping a little bit into a role of their own, instead of necessarily being a cohesive role that all three of them define.
Each of the Rangers feels very distinct from the other, with all of them bringing their own unique utility and fragging potential. While some of them might be more tilted towards getting kills while others excel at supporting their team, all of them are well-worth playing for different reasons.
3Duchess
Construct Wall
Create a wall that blocks enemy movement, sightlines, and attacks, but allows Duchess and teammates to pass through
Ruinous Blast
Create a sphere in front of Duchess that implodes and deals damage to any enemy inside
Austorium Resistance
Duchess is not damaged by her Ruinous Blast
Duchess is a great character who is going to be better the more game sense and experience you possess. She can delay and inconvenience enemies more than most other Freelancers in Concord, and has some damage potential of her own.
Duchess comes with her BA02 Submachine Gun, which does some fairly solid damage, and is relatively easy to control. It’s not a weapon that has significant range, but it does the job up close. It pairs with her abilities well, all of which are meant to force enemies to attack in a way that benefits Duchess the most.
Duchess SMG can be much easier to use when hipfiring, particularly against enemy Haunts.
She can construct a wall that blocks enemy movement, gunfire, and sightlines, forcing them to either destroy the wall or find a different path. This wall is a great way to lock off a hallway for a few seconds to buy your team some more time, or to force teams into a bottleneck. Teammates can walk through this wall.
Duchess can regain her walls by walking up and interacting with them.
Duchess' Ruinous Blast deals damage in a pretty large sphere in front of her after a short delay. This ability isn’t going to one-shot anybody, but it does do some solid damage, and can do it to a group of enemies at the same time. It can also be used through your wall to deal damage to enemies on the opposite side.
Duchess is best used to cost the enemy different things, namely their time and any advantageous sightlines they might have. No matter how the enemy chooses to deal with a wall, it’s going to cost them something to get around it. And when they do, Duchess (and hopefully some teammates) will be ready.
Creates a dense smoke cloud that impedes sightlines
A frag grenade that explodes in a considerable AoE
Tactical Weapon Sights
While in ADS, Teo can see enemies highlighted through his Smoke Grenade
Teo has some of the best damage potential of any Freelancer in the game, and out of all the characters that do have serious damage potential,Teo is the most versatile by a mile. He can spread damage out across an entire team or focus his damage on a single target, making him deadly to anybody he comes across.
Teo’s ZEG-23 Guild Guard Rifle is one of the best weapons in the game, both easy to fire accurately and putting out some serious damage. It has some range as well, equally effective in close range against an encroaching Haunt as it is against an opposing sniper.
Teo also has a secondary weapon, the CL ROC 99 Guild Guard Sidearm. It isn’t fantastic, but having a weapon to switch to without reloading is convenient.
Teo also has a Smoke Grenade that he can confuse the fight with. It’s an extremely dense smoke, blocking all sight through it, except for Teo, who can see through the smoke when looking through his scope. While you don’t want to impede allies' sightlines with the smoke, it can be a good way to have some degree of safety while firing accurate shots at an enemy that can’t see you.
He also has a Cluster Grenade, which deals impressive damage in an AoE. This isn’t going to finish an enemy on its own, but it is going to take a significant chunk of their health. When thrown into a group of enemies, it’s going to make all of them a lot easier to dispatch than before.
Teo is a great character for playing both peripherally to his teammates and in the main group of teammates as well. His abilities can be used in a variety of different ways, more offensively or defensively.
Teo is a Freelancer who can be used effectively by most players, and is a great choice for someone new to Concord.
1Jabali
Life Pulse
Throw an orb that attaches to a teammate (or Jabali) and creates a heal-over-time effect around the affected character
Throw an orb that seeks out enemies and deals damage
Life Cycle
Getting eliminations or hits with his Hunter Orb recharges one Life Pulse
Jabali is the best ranger because of his ability to be a massive help to his entire team. Jabali might not have the fragging power that Teo has, but when played well, and when played on a team that has some degree of coordination, Jabali can be hugely helpful.
Jabali’s weapon is the Pulse-Guided Seeker Rifle, which has a large magazine. It doesn’t do incredible damage and is a little bit bouncy, but it’s a serviceable weapon and can do good damage when kept on target.
Since Jabali should usually be played around at least one other teammate, this weapon is usually going to net him a lot of assists.
Jabali’s most important ability is his Life Pulse. This gets thrown in front of him, and either attaches to a teammate that it touches, or can be walked into and attached to Jabali directly. Whoever the Life Pulse is attached to is going to heal over time, as are any teammates nearby. For teams playing in the same area often, this ability is going to heal a humongous amount of health throughout a match, and competes withDaw’s Healing Padfor the best healing ability in the game.
Life Pulse is extremely easy to recharge, and can be kept on teammates or yourself for more or less the entire round.
Jabali also has a Hunter Orb, which is an offensive version of the Life Pulse. Instead of attaching to an ally, this collides with an enemy and damages them. It deals a pretty good amount of damage, a little less than half the health of a lot of enemies, and is a good way to either soften them up or finish them off.
Jabali is a fantastic addition to a coordinated team, and plays well when attached at the hip to a friendly Anchor. Keep a Life Pulse on the Anchor and stick near them, helping them stay alive throughout a fight, while your friendly Haunts skirt the edges and pick apart the other team.
