Maps are an important part of any MOBA game, as is the case withMarvel Rivals. This game features interactive and destructible environments in all of its maps, and all of them are beautifully designed as well, with plenty of Easter eggs and references in their backgrounds.

As almostall the maps in Marvel Rivals are limited to their own modes, it isn’t easy to rank them just based on how they play. With seven maps in the game divided into three core gamemodes, chances are you’ll regularly see the same map in your matches. So, with that said, which ones should you look forward to the most?

Updated on June 24, 2025, by Daniyal Sultan Malik:Marvel Rivals brought in Eternal Night: Midtown and Sanctum Sanctorum during the first half of Season One, both of which come with a brand-new setting and play style. Midtown is a Convoy map currently active in Quick Play and Competitive modes, while Sanctum Sanctorum is exclusively reserved for practice and the new deathmatch-inspired game mode, Doom Match.

10Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya

Match Format: Convergence

One of the two maps set in Tokyo 2099, Shin-Shibuya, is quite reminiscent ofHanamura from Overwatch, but it has enough differences to make it stand out. This is an impressive map in terms of art style as it mixes afuturistic Japanese setting with cyberpunk and neon lighting. There are also many Marvel references, such asthe Pixel Corp and the Alchemix headquarters.

Due to Shin Shibuya’s nature of hosting Convergence,a lot of this map consists of narrow alleyways. This can lead to a lot of tense situations, withsneaky corners and vertical areas that allow you to get the jump on your opponents. But, overall, this map just doesn’t feel as fun as the others.

Most of the rooms near the objective in Shin-Shibuya come with healing packs, so make sure to use them whenever you need them!

9Empire Of Eternal Night: Midtown

Match Format: Convoy

While it’s true that Midtown’s layout is intriguing and open, there’s no denying that it’sone of the most lopsided maps in Marvel Rivals. It primarily favors the attackers with its spawn points and blindspots, but there arekey chokepoints defenders can use, like the ones near the end of the second and final checkpoint.

The map’s not nearly as obtuse as Spider-Islands or Yggdrasill Path, but yourarely get a chance to control the objective if you’re playing on defense. It’s also an absolute nightmare for Strategists since there areway too many routes for a melee Duelist to hide, attack, and escape.

8Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands

The other map set in Tokyo 2099 is Spider-Islands and itsJapanese garden-esque setting is much calmer and more peaceful than Shin-Shibuyaalthough just as beautiful. This map feels much truer toauthentic Japanese culturewith itsJapanese temples, trees, and buildings, just with a slightly futuristic twistto them.

Just like Shin-Shibuya, this map also hasplenty of alleyways where stopping the convoy can be challenging, as defenders can easily group up and make life hard for the attackers. What makes this map slightly better though, is the number of wooden destructible houses along the way, which canopen up a lot of space and make room to take more individual duels.

7Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path

The Yggsgard maps, in general, area mix of Asgard fused with the world tree Yggdrasil, which isruled by the God of Mischief Loki. This map makes up the pathway to Yggdrasill and consists ofseveral huge Asgardian statues and grand buildingsin a primarily outdoor setting.

The Yggdrasill Path is suited for Convoy and makes for much more fun games than the Spider-Islands. Amix of alleys and wide-open spaces, along with plenty of buildings for attackers to position themselves on, andplenty of room for flying heroes to make an impactmakes this map feel a lot more balanced.

Taking the high ground is a great strategy on most maps, but it works exceptionally well on the Yggdrasill Path. Attackers can use their ranged attacks to target enemies around the convoy and the best way for defenders to counter this is by targeting the floors and buildings near these attackers.

6Sanctum Sanctorum

Match Format: Doom Match

As the first map for Doom Match, Sanctum Sanctorum hassuch an intricate layout that you can practice heroes, positioning, firing accuracy, and more. You can choose any hero you want for the first-to-16 format, and the map’slarge yet narrow nature means encounters are intense, fun, and end quickly.

To make things better, you canuse the various portals scattered across Sanctum Sanctorumfor traversal, escaping, or crafty offense tactics. Still, the map does feel somewhat restrictive, particularly becauseit heavily favors certain Duelists and Vanguards.Playing Iron ManorStormfeels incredibly disadvantageous, andany Vanguard aside from Thor,Hulk, orPeni Parker, is almost unusable.

5Intergalactic Empire Of Wakanda: Hall Of Djalia

The sheer vibrancy and detail of the Hall of Djalia make itthe most gorgeous map in Marvel Rivals. The subtle peacefulness before and during the match complements the stunning backdrop, immersing you in the Wakandan vibe. You can see the care put into the environment by looking atthe statues and architecture covering the map.

Layout-wise, the Hall of Djalia has a ton of verticality, thougha few spots are either too tall or niche to encourage camping. This issue, despite not being as relevant in Quick Play, remains consistent throughout the match. Still, the map ispractically the ideal size for its respective game mode, despite its minor structural shortcomings.

If you’re playing as an attacker, be sure to clear the big tree on the left as you exit your first spawn. There’s a good reason a DPS hero might be hiding there!

4Intergalactic Empire Of Wakanda: Birnin T’Challa

Match Format: Domination

Like the Hall of Djalia, you may’t help but adore the striking visuals of Birnin T’Challa.Serene waters, live statues, and even a giant spacecraft—these levels have it all, and they’re incredibly distinct, too. The objective areas are as simple as you can get, withlarge, open platforms that you can only attack from one side.

Unlike other Domination maps, most of the action in Birnin T’Challa happens away from the objective, since the last thing you want is to stand vulnerable in an unobstructed area. However, when the objective is contested, thecenter stage becomes absolutely chaotic, and the match peaks in excitement.

3Yggsgard: Royal Palace

If grand, Asgardian architecture is something you enjoy, then you are bound to love Yggsgard: Royal Palace. This undoubtedly captures Asgard’s spirit, including itsbeautifully made indoor castles with amazing interiors.

The zones in Domination area mix of spacious, outdoor areas, such as the Bifrost Gardens, the indoor Throne Room, and the circular Odin’s Archive, which makes for some of the most fun and unique battles. All in all, theversatility and the different types of terrain in the Yggsgard: Royal Palacemake it a much more fun map to play when compared to most others in the game.

2Hydra Charteris Base: Hell’s Heaven

Of all the Domination maps in Marvel Rivals, the trio at Hell’s Heaven is easily themost creative and open-ended because of its dynamic nature. The moving pillars around the objective offer repositioning and a great source of defense. It incentivizes you to assess the map as well as the enemies, andlearning to utilize those pillars to your advantage adds a layer of depth.

The Hydra Base maps are also fairly large—you canfocus on and attack the objective through several unsuspecting angles. Rather than recklessly charging toward the center, you may understand the map’s verticality tofind a key spot to aid your team, especially as a Duelist.

1Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface

On top of nailing the aesthetics, what truly makes Klyntar special is its size and interactivity. This is a huge map with various hideaway locations, so it inspires exploration and devising unique escape tactics. There aren’t any cheap camping spots here that unfairly favor defenders; in fact, it’s the opposite, sincestaying still in narrower segments is a death sentence.

Aside from that, you canfind gray blobs scattered across the map that you’re able to use for platforming. Attacking these blobs can create elevators, temporary bridges, and more, making the overall match much more fluid. It gives Klyntar the one aspect every map needs:meaningful environmental tools that ultimately create thrilling moments.
