It can be quite overwhelming when you first start playingConcordsince you not only have to understand what your Freegunner does, but also learn each ability you can encounter on the battlefield. While you try to learn these abilities, keeping Freegunner Variants in mind is also important.
Freegunner Variant is a unique mechanic in the game that can slightly change a character’s kit by giving them a special buff, which can make a big difference in the long run. However, you have to follow a specific procedure if you want to unlock these Variants.

Where To Get Freegunner Variants
Whenever you open any Freegunner’s information screen, you’ll see a combat trait buff on the top left side. This buff is exclusive to the Freegunner Variant you’re using, and is theonly thing that gets changed between different Variants of the same character. Different character variants are symbolized by “I”, “II”, and so on after their name.
As you play the game, you can initially gain the second Variants forLennox and Lark after reaching Reputation levels six and 13 respectively. Apart from these two Variants, which are quite easy to get, you’ll have to finish specific Variant tasks in the Job Board screen. You’ll find the Variant tab at the top when you’re in this menu.
Concord follows a time-gated system whereone Variant challenge is unlocked every week, starting with Teo for the first week of the game.
In the Variant Job Board screen, you’ll see that you have to finish a total of five tasks to unlock the featured Variant. Thankfully, these tasks can be finished with any Freegunner and you don’t have to play the featured one. After finishing all five jobs, you’ll get the Variant, and you can repeat this process every week.
One season lasts for a total of six weeks, which means you canget six Freegunner Variants in each season with this method.
