Early on inShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, in the first region of Da’at called Minato, you can kickstart a side quest called “The Golden Dragon’s Arrival.” In it, you’re challenged to locate and defeat four powerful creatures strewn throughout the zone. Your rewards are impressive, but the battles will be equally tough.

Here’s where you’ll find each of the dragons, as well as how to get started with this quest - and how to be prepared to finish it with an even harder fight. We’ll say this much right off the bat: the recommended level for this quest is pretty high, indeed!

How To Begin The Golden Dragon’s Arrival

It’s probably easiest to describe the location of this quest giver by having youunlock the Onarimon leylinefirst, and thenstarting the route from there.

In fact, by doing so, we can make this pretty darn easy to describe!Follow the path out from the enclosure with the leyline; head through the short tunnel-like area with the bird demons (Aitvara).

When you’re on the other side of the narrow passageway, turn right, which will mean ascending to a higher elevation. There’s a friendly demon fellow nearby. At the cliff’s edge, interact with the quest symbol.

Although you can start “The Golden Dragon’s Arrival” before you even reach the end of Minato in the storyline, you’ll want to be in at least the mid-forties level rangebefore trying your luck againstthe three dragons other than Xuanwu, who is a more manageable level 23.

Where To Find Xuanwu

ForXuanwu, start by unlocking theKamiyacho leyline. A bit to thenorth of it, there’s aroad that starts further north before turning eastward. (You’ll be closer to the eastward side.)

Justgo north from the leyline, then reach the east end of the streetin question.Xuanwu is weak to fire and resists ice, so bring a demon with fire spells, and maybe strap one to the Nahobino, too.

Xuanwu’s highest stat is Vitality, so it’s going to take a while to chip through those defenses unless you’re going after it when you’re suitably high enough in level to tackle its brethren.

Avoid bringing anyone who is weak to ice, asIce Breath and Bufulaboth have +5 affinity modifiers.

Qing Long’s map location in Shin Megami Tensei 5

Where To Find Baihu

TheNagatacho leylineis likelythe last one you’ll find in Minato, since it’ssouth of the Tokyo Diet Building, which is your ultimate destination.Head south and slightly west from thereand you should find Baihu.

Or rather,Baihu may well find you; the tiger dragon ambushed us on our way to it!

Baihu islevel 49, a big leap from its turtle ally. Its Strength and Agility are highfor its level. Like many other foes whouse electric-type attacks primarily, it’sweak to force.

To get an edge on Baihu, debuff its Accuracy/Evasion (Agility)to prevent it from dodging too many attacks. Baihu isweak to the Confusion ailment.

Where To Find Zhuque

Begin at theTokyo Tower leyline. From there,go west, staying alongside the wall(zone boundary)as it curves southward. If you look at the map, your destination has the appearance of a peninsula of sorts, though obviously, this being a desert, that’s not quite correct.

At the end of this strip of land, you’ll find Zhuque, who islevel 43and isweak to ice but resists fireentirely. You cankeep one of Zhuque’s actions every turn bogged downby debuffing its Accuracy/Evasion, asit will often spend an action removing the debuff.

Interestingly,Zhuque is also weak to the Charmailment. Use that to your advantage if you may!

Where To Find Qing Long

Qing Long’s probably the hardest of the group to reach, though it’s still not bad if you know what you’re doing.Start at the Hamamatsucho leyline, andcling to the boundary just to its east as you venture south.

You’ll soon come uponan area with a large dilapidated building, just across some railroad tracks. You canclimb stairs to reach the roof, and Qing Longflies in a pattern that brings it over the roofat times.

Qing Long isweak to electricbutresists ice and blocks forceentirely. It’s alsoweak to the Sleep ailment. It usesWind Breath and Bufula, so don’t bring anyone who’s weak to ice or force.

Once you return to Huang Long to complete the quest, you’ll receive 30,000 EXP and the Dragon Talismanfor your reward.

You’ll also get tofight Huang Longafterward. As Huang Long islevel 78, we’re planning to cover his fight in greater detail in a separate guide.
