Aska, a freshtake on survival-crafting games, takes you into the unforgiving world of the Vikings. As the leader of a Viking tribe, your mission is to build a thriving settlement from the ground up, recruit NPC villagers, and make sure there are enough resources to keep everyone fed, safe, and happy.

Like most survival-crafting games, you start your adventure in Aska with nothing and will need to collect even the most basic resources. One such resource you’ll need is Thatch, which is a key building material in the later stages of the game and a good source of Fiber. This guide will show you exactly where to find Thatch in Aska, ensuring you never run out of it.

Where To Find Thatch

While Thatch is not essential for initial survival, it quickly becomes an essential resource when you need tobuild roofing, beds, andadvanced housesfor your Viking-inspired village.

To get Thatch in Aska, you first need toharvest Reeds, which are tall, wheat-like plants found near water sources, like the beach. They typically growwithin tall grass, which makes them tough to spot from a distance. You canuse the Z key to scan your surroundingsfor harvestable resources.

Each set of Reeds yieldsone unit of Thatch. As such, the more Reeds you harvest, the more Thatch you’re able to collect.

A good place to start looking for Reeds is by returning to your Shipwreck location from the beginning of the game. Since the world is randomly generated, the exact spot won’t be the same for everyone. Check your map to see where your Shipwreck is.

Once you find Reeds, simply walk up to them andpressandhold the E key to harvest themandget Thatch. The Reeds you harvest will eventually grow back after a few days, so if you set up camp near the coastal line, you’ll have an easy way of farming Thatch.

Thatch can take up a lot of space in your inventory, so it’s best to focus on gathering it when you really need it for building projects.
