45 Seconds
Confusingly,Golden Vow can refer to three separate things. There’s theGolden VowIncantation, which requires 25 faith to learn; there’s theAsh of War: Golden Vow, which provides a lesser version of the Golden Vow spell as a weapon skill; and then there’s theGolden Vow (Consumable)added in Shadow of the Erdtree (which this guide discusses).
Theincantation version of Golden Vowprovides a 15-percent damage buff and a 10-percent damage negation buff for 80 seconds in PvE. TheGolden Vow Ash of Warprovides a 10-percent damage buff and a 7.5-percent damage negation buff for 45 seconds.
TheGolden Vow consumablesplits the difference, offering a 12.75-percent damage buff and an 8.75-percent damage negation buff for 45 seconds.
The benefit tothe consumable version of Golden Vowis that itdoesn’t require you to carry around a dagger or sacred seal, and itdoesn’t require any investment in faithto use. This makes it possible to run on almost any build.
Where To Find Golden Vow Tools (Consumable)
There aretwo locationsto find a few Golden Vows in the Land of Shadow, and both of them arein theShadow Keep.
Golden Vow Location 1
The first location is ina lovely courtyard within the Shadow Keep’s barracks, right next to theMain Gate Plaza site of grace. Take the left exit past the ghost and up the stairs from here. You’ll need to fight several Soldiers of Messmer, including one that will try to stomp you off the stairs.
From the doorway where the Soldier of Messmer tried to ambush you, you’ll see another soldier holding a spear. Sneak up to easily dispatch him, thenleap through the window. You’ll be in a courtyard with a large golden tree and several specters kneeling in prayer. Ignore or dispatch them as you wish.
Beneath the tree you’ll find theTalisman of Lord’s Bestowal, and around the corner there’sa dead body guarded by a Black Knight. The body contains three Golden Vows ripe for plucking.
Golden Vow Location 2
The second location is actuallyabove the first location. Instead of leaping out the window into a courtyard,keep going up the wooden stairsaround the size of the keep, fighting Soldiers of Messmer along the way.
At the top, you’ll come toa banquet hall guarded by two Black Knights. Dispatch the knights and then look to thecorpse leaning out of the hole in the rightmost wallas you enter. This corpse will have another Golden Vow for you to loot.
How To Make Your Own Golden Vows
If you plan on using the Golden Vow consumable, four probably won’t be enough to take you through the Land of Shadow. You’re going to want to make more, and thankfully,there’s a crafting recipeto do exactly that.

Where To Find The Battlefield Priest’s Cookbook [3]
The simplest way to find the Battlefield Priest’s Cookbook [3] is tostart from the Shadow Keep Main Gate site of graceand then take the elevator back to the Keep’s entrance.Take the road southwestuntil you come to the first row of tents guarded by soldiers. The Cookbook can be foundon a corpse in the open tent on the right side.
Alternatively, you’re able to come from the Highroad Cross site of grace and make your way north. Be sure to move quickly on Torrent in order to avoid fighting all the soldiers and knights that will be in your way.
There’s also aFurnace Golemguarding the area. you’re able to defeat this enemy to make finding the cookbook slightly easier, or you can do your best to sneak past it.
Where To Find Blessed Bone Shards
There are quite a few Blessed Bone Shards to be found in theShadow KeepandFort of Reprimand. Look for corpses holding these items in both locations.
Alternatively, Blessed Bone Shards are occasionally found on recentlyslain Soldiers of Messmer or Black Knight enemies.
Where To Find Shadow Sunflowers
Shadowtree Sunflowers can generally be found in and around theScadutree Base,Scadutree Chalice, andHinterlandlocations.
Sunflowersrespawn after one dayin-game time.
The best place to grab a few Shadow Sunflowers is justnorth of the Hinterland site of grace. Head north, climbing the rocks until you reach thetop of the mountain. At the summit are seven Shadow Sunflowers.
Beware the bearsthat patrol this area as they will attack on sight.
