If you want to get into metalworking and get better equipment in7 Days To Die, you’ll need a Forge, but it doesn’t run on just any fuel – you’ll need Coal for it, specifically. This isn’t like other games where you can burn wood to make it either. If you want coal, you’ll need to find it.

Maybe you’ve only found a few pieces as you go looting through cities or none at all, but you want to get started on making iron tools and better armor. If you need a good stockpile of coal, we’ll tell you the best places to find some.

You’ll want to have some food, water, anddecent armor and weapons, like a Stone Sledgehammer, before going into the Burnt Forest, as Charred Zombies are tougher than the normal ones you start off seeing.

In the Burnt Forest, you’ll havetons of spots where you can harvest Coal, as well as Wood at the same time, and thefairly flat terrainwill give yougood sightlines to keep watchfor any approaching zombies.

If youaren’t readyfor the Burnt Forest, look for Coal Oreon the surface, whichappears as large, black rocks, or findhouses with chimneys, as they have abetter chanceof having at leastone charred woodbreakable.
