Like any popular live-service FPS game,Valorant, with its tactical multiplayer FPS gameplay and unique agents with a wide variety of abilities, has a high potential for cool moments, but also for errors.
These errors can stop you from starting a game, or even worse, pop up in the middle of a match and cost you a precious ranked game alongside your sanity. Each of these errors is tied to a number, and each one has a different official explanation and potential solution.
These error codes apply to the PC version of Valorant. Error codes on consoles are classified differently, usually just with a number, as opposed to the word and number combination for PC errors.
Most Common Error Codes In Valorant
The most common error codes players will interact with have to do withconnecting to the Riot servers. As a live-service multiplayer game,Valorant requires constant connection, so whether it’s due to your internet or Riot’s servers, here are some of thecommon connection errors.
VAN 0 And VAL 19
These two codes both appear with similar text above it:“There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client.“Both of these errors are connection related, but for different reasons.
TheVAN 0 errorappears whenthe player has a connection issue, and usually can be fixed byrestarting the game and the Riot Clientprogram.
However, if the error persists after a restart,restarting your computer will also restart Riot Vanguard, the anti-cheat software that comes with the game.
As forthe VAL 19 error, that usually corresponds toconnection issues from the Riot side. Whilerestarting the game and Riot Client will usually solve the issue, deeper restarts shouldn’t have much effect due to the error coming from the Riot side, not the players.
VAL 45 and VAL 46
These two codes revolve aroundtwo key pieces to the game:Vanguard and the overall game servers. TheVAL 45 error codeappears when the game needsthe Vanguard program to reboot, so the only way to get around it is torestart the Vanguard program yourself.Restarting the computerwill do it automatically, but if the error persists,uninstalling Vanguard and reinstalling itshould fix the issue.
Another similar error code to VAL 45 isVAN -1, whichrequires the same solutionof restarting or reinstalling Vanguard to your computer.
VAL 46is one of the more common error codes simply because it is the set code for whenRiot purposefully takes down the servers for maintenance.The game will be unplayable for a short time, and isusually marked with an in-game updateahead of the maintenance time so players know when they’ll be shunted offline.
VAL 57
Error code VAL 57means that youdon’t have Riot Vanguard on, which the game requires to play. Riot’s anti-cheat service installs with the base game, butcan be remotely closed, which is the most common way this error appears.
As the error says, the easiest solution is torestart the computer, as it will start alongside the computer. If this error continues,uninstalling Vanguard and reinstalling itwill fix the issue.
VAL 61
There is no simple way to put it;if you see VAL 61, it meansyou have been bannedfrom playing Valorant. This usually comes after multiple warnings if it is related to toxicity, but depending on the situation, there is a chance that these bans could just happen.
While usually a justified situation, the way you can try and fix this error code is togo to Riot Support onlineandsubmit a ticketto see if you can unban your account.
VAL 59
Last but not least,the VAL 59 error codeis a login error code. This error code appears whenthe player can’t connect to the login queue, and usually can be fixed byrestarting the game and attempting a new login.
Due to the nature of this error, there is a chance that Riot themselves know of these login troubles, so make sure tocheck into Riot Supportand see if this issue is widespread and not localized to your computer or account.
