Have you ever played a game and simply loved it so much that you wish you could jump right back in and experience the world all over again? Plenty of people get that same sensation, though having to slog through the tutorials can feel daunting. That’s where New Game Plus comes in.
Visions of Manacomes with a New Game Plus cycle of its own. It’s a pretty par-for-the-course rendition of the system, though it never hurts to know exactly what you’re getting into before you press that button to start the adventure over again.
When Do You Unlock New Game Plus?
Though it may seem like an obvious answer, New Game Plus doesn’t unlock until you’ve finished the game. This is an important distinction to make asit unlocks after you finish Chapter Nine, though a post-game Chapter Ten also unlocks at the same time.
While Chapter Nine does need to be completed to unlock New Game Plus,you can start a new game before you’ve completed the post-game Chapter Ten. Considering the extra Ability Seeds and items you can get here, we would recommend you complete this post-game Chapter before starting a New Game Plus run.
What Carries Over Into New Game Plus?
What Items Do You Keep?
The burning question for any New Game Plus cycle is the question of what exactly do you keep from your hard-earned journey. The wonderful answer to that is just about everything. Seriously, almost nothing is left behind. It would be better to ask what you don’t keep.
Here’s a non-exhaustive list of things that carry over:
If there’s anything missing there, it’s probably carried over as well. The only major things not carried over are Key Items (aside from Li’l Cactus' diary entries and bonuses) and entries in the Bestiary.
You are refunded all of your Elemental Points at the beginning of New Game Plus so you can redistribute them as you see fit. This consequently means any custom class you built is also reset.
Things That Change
Now to dampen the mood, let’s cover what changes:
Yeah, really. Whileyou do unlock the Expert difficulty mode, enemy levels, placements, and tactics all remain identical. Item locations reset as well, meaningyou can get duplicates of unique Ability Seedsas well as double up on your Elementite to help max out the Elemental Plots of each character.
Otherwise, you’ll find yourself breezing through just about the entire game if you were sufficiently levelled.You may want to up the difficulty to Hard or Expertto give you any amount of challenge.
Does New Game Plus Overwrite Your Save File?
Thankfully, this is a pretty straightforward process. Once you complete Chapter Nine, you’ll be prompted to create Game Clear data.This is marked by a golden crown on the edge of your save file.When choosing New Game Plus from the main menu, which is a dedicated option separate from New Game,you can choose any save data with this crownto form the basis of your New Game Plus run.
As soon as you reach the first Meridian in Tianeea Village,you may save this New Game Plus run in a new save slot, and find that the save you used to create this run is exactly as you left it. The New Game Plus run will also have a golden crown beside it to distinguish it from a regular New Game run.
The onlysave data that will be overwritten is your autosave, so make sure this isn’t a piece of data you want to lose.
