How To Get The Best FPS Settings
FPS (Frames Per Second)measures theamount of still images in one second of video or animation. Framerate may not have mattered much in the days of CRTs and local gameplay. However, today’s video games have higher graphical fidelity, and the speed at which your device can render frames can make or break your game, especially in an online situation.
So, how many frames per second should you aim for? The consensus among gamers isat least 60 FPS for the smoothest gameplay possible. When a game’s framerate drops below this level, it can affect your timing. In Marvel Rivals, a drop in your timing can significantly falter your team’s progression in a match.

Display Settings
To reach an optimal framerate of 60 FPS, you need to refer to Marvel Rivals’Display Settings. This section is where you’ll setgraphical options that impact framerate. Here are the settings you’ll find:
The following settings are from Marvel Rivals’PC version. Therefore, some of these settings may not be present in the game’s console versions.

~DISPLAY~
Target Display
This setting determines which display the game will appear on when using multiple monitors.
Display Mode
This setting determines how Marvel Rivals will display on your PC.
Aspect Ratio
When playing in Fullscreen or Windowed mode, this setting defines your screen’s proportions.
Resolution
This setting defines your screen’s resolution when playing in Fullscreen or Windowed mode. Lowering the game’s resolution can ease the burden on your GPU.
Anti-aliasing and Super Resolution Type

This setting determines the anti-aliasing and super-resolution modes used in-game. Anti-aliasing smooths jagged curves and lines. Super-resolution adds missing high-frequency details to increase the game’s resolution.
Each mode has different sub-options regarding anti-aliasing, super-resolution, and rendering.

NVIDIA Reflex
This setting lets you enable NVIDIA Reflex to reduce game latency and make gameplay smoother. (requires GeForce GTX 900 or higher NVIDIA graphics card)
Enabling this setting will display latency and packet loss in-game.

~GRAPHICS~
Optimized Settings
Optimized Settings will automatically adjust your graphics settings based on the specs of your device.
Graphics Quality
This setting adjusts all of the following graphics settings to a preset quality.
Global Illumination
This setting adjusts global illumination. Higher settings result in more detailed/realistic lighting, but they also sacrifice performance.
Reflection Quality
This setting determines the reflection method used in-game. Screen Space Reflections uses data from frames in-game to produce reflections. Lumen Reflections creates reflections by emulating light in-game.
Model Detail
This setting adjusts the amount of detail of in-game scene models.
Post-Processing
This setting adjusts the amount of post-processing in Marvel Rivals' visuals. Higher settings provide dramatic visual effects.
Shadow Detail
This setting adjusts shadow quality. At higher settings, shadows will appear crisp and realistic, but at the cost of performance.
Effects Detail
This setting adjusts effect quality. Higher effects detail will enhance environmental and ability visuals at the cost of performance.
Foliage Quality
This setting adjusts the foliage quality (i.e., plants, trees, grass, etc.).
The Best FPS Settings, Explained
As you may see, there are many settings to comb through in search of the optimal FPS. What is the main takeaway?
In our experience, decreasing graphical fidelity is the quickest way to increase FPS. We experienced the highest framerates while playing with a Low Graphic Quality preset. Another significant setting regarding framerate was theAnti-Aliasing and Super Resolution type used.

We found thatTAAU and NVIDIA DLSS provide better graphics with occasional dips in framerate.Epic TSR, Intel XeSS, and AMD FSRhadfuzzier models but a more consistent framerate of 60 FPS or higher(excluding MVP animations for some reason).
None of these AI technologies fared poorly, especially in theirUltra Performance Settings. Therefore, we conclude thatTAAU and NVIDIA DLSSare the better options if you want thebest graphicsandperformance.Epic TSR, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSSwill provideexceptional performance but significantly low visual fidelity.

Every device is different. So, we recommend tinkering with these settings yourself to find what is right for you. TheShow FPS optionis a fantastic resource for seeing how your current Display Settings affect your game.
What Are Optimized Settings?
We don’t blame you if you just read the last section and feel more confused than before. It’s a lot of technical knowledge to digest. Fortunately, Marvel Rivals offers anOptimized Settingsfeature in the Display Settings menu.
The Optimized Settings featurechooses a set of graphics settings based on your system’s specifications. The resulting settings strike abalance between graphics and performance. In other words, you’ll get the best graphical fidelity possible without significantly impacting performance.

The Display Settings menu hasOptimized Settings under the “GRAPHICS” heading. Click the SET button in the same row to activate the Optimized Settings preset.

Changing the display and graphics isn’t the only way to make Marvel Rivals more enjoyable. Several options let you tailor the game to your individual gameplay needs, making it more accessible. Here are some of our favorite gameplay and accessibility settings, what they do, and where to find them.
