We’re still waiting on an all-new Tomb Raider game though, and while The Crypt Of Chronos might not be exactly what you were expecting, the tabletop game will let you embark on another adventure with Croft when it launches in 2025.
Revealed viathe official Tomb Raider Twitter account, The Crypt Of Chronos is a Tomb Raider board game created by Iconiq Studios, a board game creator that has previously turned other forms of media into tabletop adventures. Iconiq has created official board game tie-ins for Saw and Evil Dead 2, and while Tomb Raider is no horror movie, Iconiq knows how to take media and turn it into something you’re able to play on your tabletop.
Although board games are typically designed to be played with others, Tomb Raider is a famously single-player game. Iconiq has taken those opposites into account and made it so The Crypt Of Chronos can be played alone like the Tomb Raider video games, or with others if you want to share the experience. Unlike most other board games, if you do choose to play the Tomb Raider tabletop game with other people, it will be a co-op experience rather than a competitive one.
Tomb Raider On Your Tabletop
Everything else slots perfectly into what you’d expect from a Tomb Raider game. Croft has ventured to a faraway island in search of an artifact. The clock is ticking and players will need to solve puzzles and help Croft evade traps in her quest to get her hands on that mysterious item. The Crypt Of Chronos’s description also mentions an enemy from Tomb Raider’s past. Possibly a hint that someone old-school fans will recognize from the games might make an appearance.
Tomb Raider: The Crypt Of Chronos is coming to Kickstarter in May 2025, butthe page for the game is already livewhich means you may register and get notifications whenever there are updates and once the listing goes live. A price and other details haven’t been revealed, but there will be a chance to get some exclusive extras closer to the game’s release date.
