Amazon MGM Studios television head Vernon Sanders said in an interview withThe Wrapthat the team is yet to begin production and will likely spend the rest of this year preparing fornextyear. Part of that preparation will be casting the lead role; “We’ve got to find our Lara Croft, so that global wide search will start sooner rather than later.”
Sanders didn’t reveal who if anyone is being eyed or what story the series will tell, and with production slated for 2024, we probably won’t find out for some time now. But while we wait, there are plenty of fan casts to dig into.

Melissa Barrera is high up on everyone’s list after now-debunked rumours surfaced that she was in the running. If you’ve seen the Scream movies, you’ll get why everyone wants to see her fighting dinosaurs across the globe—she kicks butt in a tank top.
Another popular pick is tobring back Alicia Vikanderfrom the 2018 movie, as many believed that she deserved “a better script”, saying that her “casting was great”.
Others have put forward Scarlett Johansson, Kaitlyn Dever (who is playing Abby in The Last of Us), Sydney Sweeney, Amita Suman (who said that she would “love to do Tomb Raider”), Daisy Edgar Jones, and Hayley Atwell, who is voicing her in the upcoming Netflix animated show.
There are a lot of popular picks, Barrera among the most vocal, but with the search just beginning, all we can do is wait and see.
