As reported byVG247, modder Nikich340 has been working on"Custom Player Characters"for two and a half years. So, it predates the recently released Redkit, a version of the tools used by developer CD Projekt Red itself which has opened the door toeven more ambitious fan-made works. Nikich340, however, had to create their own tools.
“This mod allows you to smoothly play as any witcher, witcheress, or sorceress,” the description reads. “Fully customisable appearance. New magic combat system and new questline for sorceress type, fully voiced. All Geralt animations adapted for female player. Female Geralt voice lines for all languages. Easy integration in Redkit projects.”
You Can Design Your Own Character Or Use An Existing NPC
Like it says on the tin, this mod is all about customising your character. That means you may tweak their appearance and create completely original designs, but you can also use existing NPCs as well.
If you want to step away from witchers completely, you can play as a sorceress with an accompanying magic system, spells, and even a new story that unlocks further abilities.
It’s an incredibly ambitious mod that has taken years of work to pull off, but unfortunately, there is one glaring issue—it uses AI to voice its characters. Plenty of actors across different mediums,including Spider-Man himself Yuri Lowenthal and Arthur Morgan actor Roger Clark, have spoken out against its use over the years, and a big motivation behind the SAG-AFTRA strikes was to stop the use of such technology. Thankfully, it’s entirely optional, but AI voices areunderstandably a dealbreaker for many.
