Summary

SinceDead Risingstarted on the good old Xbox 360, the console that launched the achievement system, every installment has truckloads of them. The difficulty of Dead Rising’s achievements is quite interesting because many of the hardest achievements come from multiplayer.

Doing these naturally is quite ridiculous today because Dead Rising’s not Call of Duty, where you can still find people actively playing online. There are quite a few brutal single-player achievements as well, including one infamous achievement that islegendary in gaming history. DLC achievements will also be counted here, as they usually offer the hardest challenges available.

Shooting the Real Mega Buster at Otis in Infinity mode in Dead Rising 1

20G/Gold

Survive for at least 7 days.

During the Xbox 360 generation, one of the most legendarily difficult achievements was 7 Day Survivor from Dead Rising 1. Playing for 14 hours straight on those older Xenon and Falcon 360 models was very demanding and likely to overheat the system. For nearly every other console, you won’t have to worry about overheating, but you’ll still have to play for 14 hours straight.

This is a big time commitment, and depending on the person, you may not even be able to complete this achievement with the free time available. On Xbox Series X|S, however, you have Quick Resume, making that version the easiest way to get the achievement, as you may do the 7 Day Survivor run over multiple days.

Getting a call from Otis in the warehouse in Dead Rising 1

20G/Bronze

Answer all calls from Otis.

While saving every survivor in Dead Rising 1 is quite challenging, at least it’s a fun challenge. The same cannot be said for Transmissionary, which requires you to answer all calls from Otis. This requires a guide, and even then, it could bug out on you on some platforms like PS4. You must go to every part of the mall to get a call from Otis about that area, plus get a call about every side quest.

You’ll have to do at least some of the side quests because if you don’t do any, you won’t receive any additional calls at a certain point. Plus, you need to rescue certain survivors for specific endgame quest calls. It’s just plain annoying and a total hassle of a process.

Using a drill to kill a zombie in Dead Rising 2

Use every type of melee weapon on a zombie.

Dead Rising 2 is famous for its combo weapons, being the absolutebest option to use at any given time. Well, the Head Trauma achievement forces you to use every bog-standard melee weapon in the game. Considering you’ll mainly use combo weapons and firearms the whole time, you likely won’t make a lot of progress towards this.

What’s even worse is that there are 141 unique melee weapons in the game. You also have to do this under one save file; there’s nothing telling you what melee weapons you already used, plus certain weapons are exclusive to side quests or later in the main story. The planning required here is just on another level, and this achievement proves to be a massive pain.

Searching for a game in the Terror Is Reality multiplayer in Dead Rising 2

Play and win in all 9 TIR events.

Multiplayer was also introduced in Dead Rising 2, and it proved to be a lot of fun. However, the current playerbase is why TK’s Favorite has to beone of the hardest achievementsin Dead Rising 2. You have to win all nine Terror Is Reality events in multiplayer, and finding three other people online naturally is a Herculean task.

Standing right next to the Massager challenge in Dead Rising 2 Off the Record

You’ll have to boost this, but even then, it’ll take a while because if the three other people don’t have the achievement, you’ll have to play an additional 27 events for a total of 36. That’s a really long boosting session, and it’s not even the only time in the series where you’ll have to do something like this.

Boosting is a slang term to describe when someone uses the assistance of other gamers to improve their performance, whether through teaming up, taking your place, or intentionally losing to you. While considered controversial in certain online games, we don’t think anyone will be bothered by doing so here.

About to talk to Denyce in Dead Rising 2 Off the Record

Description

20G/Silver

Get a Gold medal on all single-player challenges. Note: Medals may not be 100% pure gold.

Sandbox mode was a great addition to Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. Finally, you have a space to freely mess around in, but Capcom Vancouver also placed 30 challenges throughout Fortune City. These challenges are not really a test of skill but instead require endurance and good planning beforehand.

The PP Trials menu in Dead Rising 3

Most challenges you must use a guide for because the gold medal requirements are so strict, and even if you have a neat idea for how to beat it, it often won’t work. You’ll wish the weapon lockers from DR3 were in this game because, so often, you’ll have to find items for combo weapons to complete challenges, and they can be far away from where you are. The travel time alone for this achievement is just ridiculous.

Had Denyce attack and damage Sgt. Boykin. Why would you put the poor girl through all that?

The fully completed Kill Frenzy challenge in Dead Rising 3

You know how in Valve titles like Left 4 Dead 2 or Half-Life: Alyx, there’s a little gnome you can carry for most of the game? The Alpha Vs. Omega achievement is Dead Rising’s equivalent. Denyce is the very first rescueable survivor you’ll meet in Off the Record, and instead of actually rescuing her, you must carry Denyce all the way to the second-to-last boss fight and let her do damage.

An absolute pain; getting her to survive certain boss fights and story segments can get ridiculous. However, there is an easy solution: co-op. you may find people online that have a save right before the Sgt. Boykin fight. Simply join their co-op session, and you should have your achievement within a minute.

Searching for a game in the Super Ultra Dead Rising 3' Arcade Remix DLC

50G

Complete all PP Trials.

Dead Rising started the achievement trend of having you kill a ridiculous number of enemies. DR1 had 53,594, DR2 had 72,000, and Off the Record had 100,000, but DR3 takes the cake. For DR3, you must kill 340,000 zombies for the full completion. This is because of the PP Trials.

There’s an increasing series of trials for killing X amount of zombies, capping out at 200,000 kills. Unfortunately, these don’t carry over progress, so once you finish the trial for killing 50,000 zombies and the one for 70,000 unlocks, you must start from zero. What in the known universe? Riding around in your RollerHawg killing zombies has never been more boring, with the absurd target goal here.

Getting a Ball Buster in Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf

20G

25 Survival Training Gold medals earned.

Like Off the Record, Dead Rising 3 also has challenges on offer. They’re generally far easier thanks to the weapon and vehicle lockers introduced in DR3, but this achievement is hard for different reasons. For one, going backward in time in the chapter select will wipe the challenges clean off the map.

They’re still tagged in the achievement progress, but you must remember which gold medals you’ve already won. Second, this achievement can bug out on you with 92 percent completion, even though you’ve done everything. If this happens, you must join another person’s game and get another gold medal, and it should pop. Just hope you can actually find another game to join.

Super Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix - Play with 10 other players

Within theexcellent Super Ultra Dead Rising 3' Arcade Remix DLC, you have the second-hardest multiplayer achievement in the series: Team Player. For this, you not only have to play with ten other players throughout your time in the DLC, but you have to finish a match for it to count.

Hosting a boosting session for this would be an absolute nightmare. If there are 12 total people in the session, which would be very hard to reach, by the way, there would be so many combinations you would have to do to make all 12 get the achievement, but only four can do a match at a time. It probably won’t take as long as TK’s Favorite, but far more complicated for the host.

10G/Bronze

Mini Golf - Use every Ball Buster on other players

What can very well be your final achievement in Dead Rising 4 is #1 Ball Buster within the Mini Golf DLC. These purple balls only appear in multiplayer and give a random punishment to a random person. There are nine different types, and due to the RNG nature, this will be a long grind.

Most holes have a couple of them, and it’ll take several two-hour sessions, marathoning course two over and over until you manage to get all nine. Out of all the Dead Rising multiplayer achievements, this one will take the longest.
