Summary

The Duelist role is by far the most played inMarvel Rivals, and for good reason. This role mostly focuses on cool damage-causing abilities that make taking down opponents much easier. There are also a lot of expectations from duelist players, as their kits are built to cause the most damage and disrupt the enemy team.

But not all duelist characters are the same, as some have much stronger abilities and ultimates than others, which makes them much more effective on the battlefield. This article will go through all the best duelists in Marvel Rivals and let you know where they excel.

Black Panther slashing upward with his devastating Vibranium Claws while in front of a purple and black background in Marvel Rivals.

10Black Panther

Black Panther is not just one of the worst duelists butarguably the worst character in the game as of now. The reason for this is that his melee attacks just don’t do enough damage, and his dash or Bast’s Descent ability is good in concept, but it can cause more harm than good if you miss it, which happens quite often.

Of course, there are also a lot of things Black Panther does well, and if you are really skilled at the game, then he can be quite a good choice, as his kit lets you get close to enemies and dash out after causing a lot of damage.

Magik swinging her Soulsword across the screen horizontally with a fierce look on her face while in front of a black and red background in Marvel Rivals.

9Magik

Another duelist who feels quite underpowered is Magik, but with the right team and support, she can be very useful. Her soulsword and slashes are great at damaging opponents, and she can use her stepping discs to close distance and get her out of trouble.

The main issue with Magik is thather attacks feel quite slow, and the more agile heroes can easily outmaneuver her. She also struggles at times against flying enemies, which is one of the reasons she ranks so low on this list.

Namor standing beneath the water, screaming toward the heavens in front of a teal and green background in Marvel Rivals

8Namor

Namor is a ranged DPS duelist whoexcels at causing chip damage to his enemies with his abilities that use Monstro spawns. His Blessing of the Deep ability is also quite strong and can get him out of dangerous situations while temporarily shielding him.

Although he may not have the strongest kit, Namor is a good and simple hero for newer players to pick up, and the fact that he has a set role and can fit into most team compositions is a bonus.

Star-Lord posing with his Element Guns in front of a blue and yellow background in Marvel Rivals.

7Star-Lord

Star-Lord is another versatile duelist who excels in many team compositions. Hismain strengths are using his Element Gun-based abilities to cause damage at mid-to-close rangeand dashing and evading enemy attacks with his Stellar Shift.

His Ultimate, the Galactic Legend, isone of the strongest duelist ults in the gameand lets him fly around the arena while his bullets automatically gravitate toward his enemies. Timing this ultimate with your teammates makes for a very strong combination, as enemies are left weak and can easily be capitalized upon by your team.

Storm intro screen in Marvel Rivals, showing her hovering above the ground.

6Storm

Storm’s kit includes a lot of damage-causing attacks, such as her wind and lightning moves, but she also has a few supportive abilities that make her stand out from other duelists. Her Weather Controlcan provide a movement and damage boost to her allies.

Where Storm falls behind the other duelists is in her flying abilities, as she can fly quite high, but her movement speed in the air is quite limited, which makes her an easy target for ranged attacks.

Spider-Man’s introduction screen showing him diving in Marvel Rivals

5Spider-Man

As you might have expected, what makes Spider-Man so good in Marvel Rivals is his mobility. His ability to swing around the arena using his Web Swing ability, get close to enemies to do damage with his melee attacks, and then swing out is his strength.

Spider-Man also has a bunch of ranged attacks at his disposal, such as his Web Cluster that launches a barrage of webs at his opponents. His variety of abilities and movement-related gameplay make Spider-Man a tough character to play, but he can be very strong once you get the hang of it.

Iron Man charging his Repulsor Blast while standing in front of a blue background in Marvel Rivals

4Iron Man

Iron Man is one of the strongest and most fun duelists in Marvel Rivals. Whether it be through his Repulsor Blasts or his Unibeam, he canshred down targets at range while zooming across the arena with his Hyper-Velocity mode.

The Armor Overdrive ability of Iron Man is also extremely strong and gives him a damage buff to these abilities. It is also even stronger whenpaired up with the Hulk, as it charges it with gamma radiation and gives an additional buff on top of it.

Marvel Rivals Scarlet Witch mid shot with her name in the background.

3Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel world, and she is equally strong in Marvel Rivals. She excels at causing damage through her attacks, focused on chaos energy. She also can get out of trouble by using her Mystic Projection abilities.

Her ultimate ability, the Reality Erasure, is one of the strongest in the gameand can easily destroy her opponents within seconds. Her ability to fly around the map using her projection abilities and her strong damage attacks are the reasons why she is arguably the best character in the game.

Hela posing with her arms spread outward with a devilish grin on her face in front of a blue and green background in Marvel Rivals

2Hela

Similarly to Scarlet Witch, Hela is also one of the most overpowered heroes in Marvel Rivals. Although she may be tough to pick up for new players due to her wide variety of abilities, she can be very strong in the right hands with her ranged DPS style.

Her Nastrond Crowstorm passive and Goddess of Death ability are perfect for causing AoE damage and, like all the best duelists in the game, she has an ability to get her out of trouble, which is her Astral Flock. Her main weapon, the Nightsword Thorn, requires a lot of skill and precision but can be extremely deadly if used well.

The Punisher’s splash screen in Marvel Rivals, having him aiming down the sights of his AR after firing a few shots off, having its dual barrels smoke, while standing in front of an orange and black background.

1The Punisher

What makes The Punisher one of if not the best duelists in the game is that he can cause a lot of damage from a distance and is alsovery simple to play. His weapons range froman assault rifle to a shotgun to a smoke grenade and a turret, all of which give him a lot of flexibility on the battlefield.

His ultimate ability is called the Final Judgement, where he unleashes a barrage of missiles and bullets on enemies to cause a lot of damage and chaos. There’s a chance that he may get a nerf soon, but for now, there aren’t too many better characters in the game.
