Summary

It’s great to collect cheap games for consoles, and one of the best systems to buy cheap games in mass is the Xbox One. In terms of standard titles, the highest it goes is something like Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is nearing $50. That’s wild, but like most modern systems, the limited editions are abundant in the overall rarest games.

There’s quite a bit of overlap between the rarest games on Xbox Oneand the PS4, but strangely enough, there are certain products more valuable on Xbox than PlayStation. Usually, the PlayStation versions are more expensive, but there’s outliers.

All values are based onPriceCharting’scomplete price at the time of writing.

10The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Collector’s Edition - $360

Fit For One Of The Greatest Games Of The Generation

Debatably, the best cross-platform title in the eighth-gen wasThe Witcher 3. It just blew everybody away with its storytelling, RPG elements, and presentation, and you can see why the Collector’s Edition would be in such high demand.

You get a lot of cool stuff here: some maps, Gwent cards, a medallion, a CD soundtrack, an artbook, a steel book, and a nice-looking statue of Geralt fighting the Griffin from the prologue. It’s a solid all-around package, but if you just want the statue, you may want to consider buying one of the many other high-quality ones available, depending on your budget.

9Fortnite Storm Master Weapon Pack DLC - $413

A Code More Valuable Than The Disc Inside The Case

PriceCharting.com has a weird categorization ofFortnitefor the Xbox One. The base game is just one product, and the regular version, brand new, goes for over $800. However, the game with the code still unused has its own listing, and that goes for over $400 complete.

The reason for the high price is that the Storm Master Weapon Pack DLC is no longer available for purchase in Fortnite, so these codes are the only way to get the DLC. With how popular Fortnite is, you can understand the demand this item would have.

Shark!

When you buy a Collector’s Edition for a zombie game, you just know you’re in something special regarding collectibles. There’s the infamous Dead Island Riptide Zombie Bait Edition that was actually cancelled in the US, but a significantly cooler product is the Collector’s Edition forZombie Army 4: Dead War.

Originally for $100, you get a steel book, an artbook, and a very pretty zombie shark figurine. The PlayStation 4 version of this CE has bumped up a little in price, but the Xbox One version just exploded, with it being over $200 more than the PS4 counterpart. This usually means that most bought this CE for PlayStation, and as such, the Xbox One version is significantly rarer.

7BioShock 10th Anniversary - $491

A Retro Throwback

TheBioShockCollection was released in 2016, remastering the original trilogy, but one year later, for the series' 10th anniversary, 2K released a special version exclusive to GameStop. Strangely enough, this package seems to be a retro throwback to the original BioShock Limited Edition, even including an awesome Big Daddy figure.

Considering that Limited Edition used to besuch an expensive 360 game, it was cool to see a revision here. Once again, the Xbox One version of this product is quite a bit more expensive than on PS4, meaning most got this on PlayStation.

6Darksiders 3 Apocalypse Edition - $500

The Full Playset

Sometimes, Collector’s Editions are already ludicrously expensive, meaning they’ll be pricier later on, just because not a lot of folks paid that initial cost in the first place. Often, though, the price doesn’t rise too much, and that’s what exactly happened to the Apocalypse Edition for Darksiders 3.

Retailing for $400, the big benefit of this edition was the inclusion of four very high-quality figures of the lead characters. It’s a great treat for fans but not worth the asking price, and the lack of demand is probably why it hasn’t risen too much in value.

5Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Collector’s Edition - $539

Quite The Expensive House

All the recentResident Evilgames had Collector’s Editions exclusive to GameStop, and that trend started back in 2017 with thegame that brought RE back to formResident Evil 7. Being the first also meant it was the worst. Unlike the other CEs, you don’t get a statue of one of the lead characters, but instead, a music box shaped like the Baker mansion, which isn’t as appealing.

This $180 product didn’t even include the season pass, which is a baffling omission. Plus, the VHS tape included isn’t even a real one, unlike the CE for Doom Eternal, which had an actual cassette tape to play. All around, the product wasn’t an intriguing purchase, but that’s exactly why it’s well worth over $500 today.

4Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Juggernog Edition - $559

The Ultimate Treat For COD Zombies Fans

Easily, the most sought-after Collector’s Edition in Call of Duty history is the Juggernog Edition ofBlack Ops 3. Inside this package, you get a mini fridge identical to the Juggernog machine in COD Zombies, but it doesn’t stop with the looks. It actually makes a variety of COD Zombies sound effects every time you open the fridge, and you can even customize the top part to include different Perk-a-Cola icons.

It sucks that most of these fridges do need to be repaired, even brand new ones, as their battery is likely dead at this point. Still, any COD Zombies fan would love this item, and it’s appropriate it comeswith the best Zombies gamein the series.

3Titanfall 2 Collector’s Edition - $595

Even Rarer Than COD

Probably the most well-known acclaimed flopped title to come from the eighth generation wasTitanfall 2. It still tops many FPS games today, but it just came out at a crowded time with so many releases. The game underperformed, and this affects the rarity of the Collector’s Edition.

This CE comes with an awesome pilot helmet replica from the game and even a few accessories, which is nice to see. The demand isn’t as high as the Juggernog Edition of Black Ops 3, but it’s quite a bit rarer due to poor sales, so it ends up being a little more expensive.

2Rock Band 4 RED Band-In-A-Box Bundle - $623

Forward Compatibility Rocks

Complete in-box rhythm game bundles are very valuable today, and a large reason for that is Fortnite. Fortnite Festival is backward compatible with many rhythm game controllers, including accessories for Rock Band 4. This title underperformed quite a bit, with Mad Catz being left with a ton of unsold Rock Band 4 instruments.

The rarest variant bundle has to be the RED Band-In-A-Box, which was exclusive to Target. It looks great with the red color scheme compared to the black of the standard bundles. It’s a great starting kit for Fortnite Festival, but there are definitely cheaper alternatives out there.

1Assassin’s Creed Origins Dawn Of The Creed Legendary Edition - $924

Another Pricey Statue

The most expensive base product released out of the rarest games would be the Dawn of the Creed Legendary Edition ofAssassin’s Creed Origins, retailing for $800. That’s a wild amount, but it makes sense, considering what you’re getting.

The main draw of this edition is the incredible statue of Bayek, which, in terms of size and quality, easily surpasses all the other ones included in these games. If you were to buy an actual high-quality video game statue, it would be in the $800 range, if not much more so. Like Darksiders 3, it hasn’t risen too much in value, probably due to low demand.
