Arcanine is one of the most beloved Pokemon from the first generation. It is an incredibly powerful Fire-type that you may quickly evolve into by using a Fire Stone on a Growlithe. In thePokemon TCGbeing a stage two Pokemon made it easy to get out onto the field without too much hassle.
So if you’ve been collecting Arcanine cards you might want to check your card binder. Some Arcanine printings are worth quite a bit of cash if you’ve kept them in good condition. From first edition printings to unique E-Reader gimmicks, these are the ten most valuable Arcanine cards in the Pokemon TCG.

8Arcanine HeartGold SoulSilver $24.94
The Power Of The Fire Stone
Some Pokemon cards might not be the most powerful but the longer they stay out in the wild the more the price goes up. Arcanine from the Heart Gold and Soul Silver set can hit almost $25 a copy if you kept it in good condition.
It has two very basic attacks that don’t require you to discard Energy like most other Fire-type moves. Sharp Fang does 50 damage for two Energy. Fire Mane costs a whopping four Energy and does 90 damage. What makes this card pretty to look at is the card art. It features Arcanine standing in front of a Fire Stone which caused it to evolve from Growlithe.

7Arcanine Aquapolis E-Reader $29.62
Extra Content In The Barcode
One of the many E-Reader Arcanine cards to make their way to the top is the Arcanine from theAquapolis set. Scanning it will allow you to read a special Pokedex entry taken from Pokemon Crystal. Arcanine’s Poke-Body ability is Extreme Speed. This allows it to cut down on the Retreat Cost for each Energy attached to it.
Once it hits three Energy, it can swap out easily. This Arcanine also has one attack in the form of Fire Blow. For three Energy, you can deal 30 damage. In addition to this, you can discard as many Fire Energy cards from Arcanine as you want to flip a coin. For each head, you can deal 30 more damage.

6Arcanine Skyridge E-Reader $31.99
Stronger With More Energy
Another E-Reader card worth something is Arcanine from theSkyridge set. While it does not have anything unique to offer from scanning it other than the same Pokedex entry that other E-Reader Arcanine have, it does have very gorgeous card art.
This Pokemon has a Poke-Power called Energy Recharge; when you play this card to evolve your cuddly Growlithe, you can flip three coins, and for each head, attach a basic Energy to it from your Discard Pile. You can also use Shake, which deals ten damage and forces your opponent to switch out Pokemon. And last, for three Energy White Flames does 70 damage and discards all fire energy from Arcanine.

5Arcanine Base Set $98.37
The Original Arcanine Card
There is just something about that classic Pokemon TCG art style that makes them look so vintage.Base setArcanine is one of those cards that you want to find hidden in your bulk. Just make sure that your copy has the first edition markings and is not a reprint from future sets.
You can use Flamethrower for three Energy. However, it will require you to discard one Fire Energy attached to Arcanine before you can deal 50 damage. Take Down is its second Move, which does 80 damage but has a recoil damage of 30. While 80 might not be impressive in the modern game, back then, it could wipe out plenty of Pokemon.

4Blaine’s Arcanine Gym Challenge $219.59
A Gym Leader’s Ace
Blaines Arcanine from theGym Challengeset gives the Pokemon a few new moves from its Base set counterpart. For three Energy, you can use Heat Tackle which deals 40 damage and has a recoil of ten damage.
For four Energy, Firestorm will deal 120 damage but will also require you to discard three Fire Energy from Arcanine before it does anything. Once again, the valuable version of the card has a first-edition stamp on it. Like other Gym Challenge Pokemon in the set, it also has a stamp of Blaine on the bottom right.

3Light Arcanine Neo Destiny $228.72
Arcanine Can Be Friendly Too
Light Arcanine fromNeo Destinyis one of the cutest renditions of the powerful dog Pokemon. With a holographic look to it and a first-edition stamp, it’s no wonder it is worth so much. Taking a closer look at its Pokemon Power, Drive Off, can force your opponent to swap their Defending Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon each time Light Arcanine attacks.
It has only one move to take advantage of this Pokemon Power. For three Energy, you can use Gentle Flames which does 50 damage to an Evolution Pokemon, 30 to Basic Pokemon, and ten if the attack is aimed at a Baby Pokemon.

2Arcanine Aquapolis E-Reader Holo $239.99
A Dazzling Rarity Bump
If you thought the Aquapolis Arcanine could fetch you a nice bit of pay, you might want to check the card art before putting it on the market. If your copy has a holographic foiling then you have a card that is worth almost ten times more.
This card is valuable for a multitude of reasons, one being that it is an E-Reader card, so having a barcode in good condition bumps up the price. Also, because of the holo rare foiling, it made it much harder to pull when the set was in its prime and there was less in circulation. So, if you have it in your collection, congrats!

1Arcanine EX Legend Maker $260.01
The Most Valuable Arcanine Card
Arcanine EX from the Legend Maker set is the most expensive Arcanine card of all time. With a very nice holographic body, the card is not only pretty to look at but a valuable collector’s item. This Arcanine has a Poke-Body ability, Fire Remedy, which allows you to heal it by attaching a Fire Energy to it. This heals ten damage and all Special Conditions.
Overrun does 30 damage to your opponent’s Defending Pokemon and an additional 20 to one of their Benched Pokemon. Flame Swirl is its most expensive move with a three Energy cost. It does 100 damage and forces you to discard either two Fire Energy or one React Energy attached to Arcanine EX.
