Elden Ringis an open-world FromSoftware game, and with the launch of theShadow of the Erdtree DLC, the game has expanded beyond the Lands Between and into the Land of Shadow. It’s here that the lore is expanded upon with new characters and more fleshed-out parts of the story, like that of the lore surrounding the mystery that was St. Trina.
In the Lands Between, St. Trina was a character associated with sleep and a well-loved person of the people. There were a lot of theories regarding St. Trina’s identity and they were mostly confirmed on our journey to the Land of Shadow, where she got some much-needed attention.

Who Is St. Trina?
St. Trina in the Lands Between stood out as abeacon of hope and solace. At first glance, she appears as abenevolent deity associated with sleep and dreams, offering respite to those burdened by the harsh realities of the Lands Between.
Devout followers like Thiollier seek her embrace, yearning for eternal slumber and peace. Trina’s lilies can be used to craft itemsthat build up the sleep status effectwhen used on enemies.
The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC confirms the very popular theory thatSt. Trina isn’t a diety or god, but is to Miquellawhat Radagon was to Marika,a separate personality occupying the same body.
This revelation adds a layer of complexity to Miquella’s character, and Miquella even refers to St. Trina as his ‘love’on one of his crosses littered across the Land of Shadow.
St. Trina And Her Ultimate Goal
Though St. Trina, unlike Miquella, doesn’t have any grand ambition or agoal to become a God like Marika, she would keep Miquella’s impulses in check, partly becausethey inhabited the same body.
Unfortunately, after discovering what their mother,Queen Marika, had done to the inhabitants of the Land of Shadow, particularly the Hornsent,Miquella started abandoning parts of himselfout of guilt and scattered them across the Land of Shadow.
He even abandoned his Great Rune, breaking the spell on his followers andcreating a creature known as the Scadutree Avatar. He abandoned St. Trina at Stone Coffin Fissure, depicted in the story trailer for the DLC, and she isnow being guarded by the Putrescent Knight. Defeating the knight will allow you tofinally meet St. Trina in the flesh.
The tarnished and St. Trina’s biggest fan, Thiollier, can now rest with thesweet velvety sleep by drinking St. Trina’s nectardirectly. St. Trina’s role isn’t expanded upon further than this, since she has beenabandoned by Miquella, but if you keep drinking the nectar, you’ll eventually hear her talk to you in your head.
Godhood would be Miquella’s prison. A caged divinity… is beyond saving.
She tells you to kill Miquella, as a mercy, because Godhood would be a prison for him. Since they loved each other, Trina wants only what is best for Miquella, despite his death leading to her death as well.
St. Trina’s abandonment by Miquella was a huge betrayal to her, but at the end of the day,she still sees Miquella as an extension to herselfand continues to be loyal to him.
