As more time passes, though, more issues come to the forefront, and currently, players ofNexon’sfree-to-play looter shooter are facing an enormous AFK farmer problem.
“Some people just want the ‘looter’ without the ‘shooter’”
Over the last 24 hours,two threadshave appeared onThe First Descendant’s Subredditcomplaining about AFK farmers, each of which has hundreds of comments.
Players are jumping into lobbies with their fellow Descendants, only for one (or more) to put in minimum effort, usually firing off a few shots at enemies, before going AFK and reaping the rewards. AReddit user suggestedthis behavior is because “Some people just want the ‘looter’ without the ‘shooter.'”
Dozens of Descendants have faced similar issues. Oneplayer reportedthat they “got teleported to the final boss, and we lost because the other party members kept trying to get him [AFK Farmer] up and ended up dying with him…” Adding that they “tried to say he was AFK, but apparently “AFK” is a banned word.”
Another sharedthat they “can’t even farm Kuiper shards at the top spots” because “players are just on a hill waiting to hit the boss once.” An experience that has been worryingly echoed multiple times.
As if going AFK isn’t bad enough, some players are reporting that these farmers are being excessively toxic, withone statingthey “Had a guy doing the sit emote every time there was an objective to do.”
The Inactivity Kick
While The First Descendant does have an inactivity kick, these AFK farmers are wise to that.
Players report that these tagalongs will “move a bit every minute or so to not get kicked.” So far, they’ve noted that reporting hasn’t worked and that they’re being forced to leave games every time one of these farmers appears, leading to calls for more aggressive controls.
OneReddit user statedthat although it “can be abused… I could see a vote kick working with some rules,” an idea that was met with a mixed reaction. Some players said they would rather have a shorter AFK timer. In contrast,others suggesteda “contribution model” that would “share the rewards of someone who didn’t contribute sufficiently with the remaining team instead.”
Afinal player proposeda minimum damage requirement, which would stop players from getting rewards unless they dealt a set amount or percentage of damage.
Whatever it does, Nexon has another problem on its hands that needs fixing to keep its bustling player base happy.
