Summary

ThePower Rangersfranchise is known for two things: people dressed in colorful suits fighting monsters, and giant robots made of other giant robots fighting, as expected, giant monsters. These robots are known as Zords, and when they combine, they form the Megazord.

This is how the Power Rangers usually end their fights, having the Megazord deal the final blow, turning away from the monster exploding, and striking a pose for the camera. With over 30 years of seasons to go through, there are a lot of Zords and Megazords that have stayed in our memories.

7White Tigerzord

From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Season 2

Expect a lot of Zords from the 6th Ranger on this list, since that character always gets spoiled by the best gigantic robots. The White Ranger is no exception, with a prideful White Tigerzord running into battle, able to transform into a humanoid form to battle.

Not only is the Tigerzord able to stand against nearly any foe, it also combines well with the other Zords in unexpected ways. You have your usual Megazord transformations, but the White Tigerzord can also be ridden by the Red Dragon Thunderzord into battle, having both leadership figures fight both as humans and as giant robots.

6Wild Force Megazord

From Power Rangers Wild Force

The uniqueness of the Wild Force Megazord is in the multitude of weapons it can have since the Rangers are constantly finding new Zords that become different weapons. Be it a defensive sword and shield mode thanks to the Elephant Wildzord, or a berserking style with the Black and Polar Bear Wildzords, the Wild Force Megazord was prepared for any encounter.

As the seasons have gone by, there have been many other Megazords capable of mixing and matching their pieces, but the Wild Force Megazord was one of the first to do so. It also looks extremely well with every combination, since all of them look like part of the original design.

5Samurai Star Chopper

From Power Rangers Ninja Storm

The Samurai Star Chopper isn’t only a cool-looking machine, it is also deceptively simple while being a stark contrast with the rest of the team. While all other Ninja Storm Rangers have Zords that resemble animals, the Green Ranger strolls in with a casual attack helicopter, bringing a much-needed level of practicality to the fight.

You might wonder what a chopper has to do with Ninjas, and the key is on the Chopper’s rotor blades. When the Samurai Star Chopper enters Battle Mode, it transforms into a humanoid shape able to toss the rotor blades like a shuriken; that’s where the “Star” in its name comes from.

4Centaur Megazord

From Power Rangers Mystic Force

When Koragg transforms into any gigantic form in Power Rangers Mystic Force, it is always a striking spectacle, but the Centaur Megazord form always had its own flavor. After all, a season about mysticism having a gigantic Centaur galloping around was just perfect.

Don’t confuse this form with the Centaurus Megazord from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.

It may not be Koragg’s most powerful form, but it makes full use of his Zord horse, Catastros. Many Zords have ridden into battle before, and many have been animals running around, but few have combined both with such elegance as the one managed by the Centaur Megazord.

3Dragonzord

From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Few things are as iconic as the Green Ranger summoning his Zord with his Dragon Dagger, the tune being engraved into children’s minds to this day. While many other 6th Rangers would have spectacular intros, the Dragonzordrising from the water Godzilla-styleis a hard one to beat.

While it could barely move, its presence alone was striking enough, and the Dragonzord didn’t even need to get close to its enemies most of the time. Tail swipes and finger missiles made short work of most foes, either in their base form or when combined with other Zords.

2Pyramidas

From Power Rangers Zeo

There is a primal awe/fear that triggers in our minds when we see a massive structure, be it a mountain range or a large statue. The Megazords often evoke that feeling, having the size of buildings, but Pyramidas looks like something out of an Independence Day movie.

The sheer size of Pyramidas makes the gigantic monsters feel like ants, understanding that they are doomed even before Pyramidas attacks. Its Warrior Mode is even more striking, slowly rising to reveal arms and legs; nothing could stand in the way of this juggernaut of size.

1Dino Megazord

Nearly every Megazord design over the past 30 years has been based on the original Dino Megazord, to the point that the word “Megazord” is synonymous in many people’s minds with the Dino Megazord. It was the original Zord, and it is being constantly referenced by both Western and Eastern media, holding a special place in many people’s hearts.

Beyond nostalgia, there is a simplicity in its design that lets you appreciate the silhouette of the machine, as well as identify each part without them sticking out. Visuals aside, its many memorable battles make it the best Zord combination by a large margin, with nothing beating the one that came first.
