Summary

There’s small examples of Nintendo and PlayStation games on other platforms, but the one console manufacturer that shares their games the most is Xbox. While plenty of Xbox Game Studios titles are coming over to other platforms, a huge chunk of their library onPlayStation 5comes from acquisitions.

Any Bethesda game or Activision Blizzard game on the PlayStation 5 are Xbox titles now, and as PlayStation has seen far more support from those two publishers, the Xbox library on the system is far larger than something like the Switch. Even without an Xbox, you’re able to engage in the Xbox community to some extent here.

Any game now owned by Xbox will count here. This means that if the game is purchased on the PlayStation Store, some of the revenue has to go to Microsoft.

10Sea Of Thieves

Live-Service Done Right

While rocky at launch,Sea of Thievesis currently one of thebest live-service games available. You can expect regular tangible updates that include crossovers from things like Pirates of the Caribbean or Monkey Island, and it’s such a blast with friends.

9Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)

The Perfect Little A-Day Game

The recentCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has the best multiplayer out of the new COD era, starting with Modern Warfare 2019. The movement and shooting feel the best they ever have been, leading to a game you’ll want to play a little each day.

It’s that fun and a perfect game to play if you just have a tiny 30-minute or hour-long break. Yes, the campaign’s horrible, and the Zombies experience isn’t the best, but the multiplayer and Warzone more than make up for it in terms of sheer fun factor.

8Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3

The Best COD Zombies Ever

you may also play PS4 games on PS5, and out of the older COD titles, the best has to be Black Ops 3. If you have all the DLC, the Zombies experience here is unmatched in the series with the best maps, best gameplay, and a nice continuation of the Zombies storyline. Even aspects like the Gobblegums are a cool addition because they’re essentially cheat codes.

You can just quit the game app to save them, meaning you can use the Mega Gobblegums over and over again. Sadly, the servers aren’t great currently, and frankly, they’re not much better on Xbox. Still, Black Ops 3 offersa stellar Zombies packagethat’s a must for any COD fan or a beginner.

7Doom Eternal

The Doom Slayer Is Back

In terms of modern FPS action games, one of the best available currently isDoom Eternal. A phenomenal sequel that enriches the combat offered in Doom 2016; it’s great to play, no matter if you’re a Doom expert or a rookie.

There’s quite a bit of content, including two DLC packs and plenty of Master Levels, which expert players will eat up. Seriously, when you get good, those Master Levels are the most fun part of the game. Doom Eternal has a native PS5 version, so you’ll get all the next-gen upgrades, including DualSense support.

6Hi-Fi Rush

Better On PlayStation

PS5’s DualSense controller can be cumbersome if you’re playing competitive titles, but one genre that excels with it is rhythm games. When the controller itself syncs up with the beat so well, that helps the experience tremendously, and that’s whyHi-Fi Rushis a better experience on PS5 than Xbox.

It feels night and day, plus Hi-Fi Rush is an amazing rhythm action game on its own with loveable characters and a lot of content. It’s relatively short, too, which makes it great to replay every once in a while.

5Psychonauts 2

A Perfect Sequel

After 16 years since the original,Psychonauts 2was finally released, and the long wait was worth it. It’san amazing platformerand shows the creativity that only Double Fine Productions can deliver. The voice acting’s great, too, and the story continues nicely from where the first game left off.

Sadly, there is no PS5 version, with Psychonauts 2 being exclusive to Xbox on next-gen. However, the PS4 version is still a blast. If you’re worried about not playing the original, don’t fret because Psychonauts 1 is also available for purchase on PlayStation 5, and this will lead to a fantastic two-parter.

4Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Three Classic PS1 Games In One Package

Despite Crash Bandicoot now being owned by Xbox, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was a PS4 exclusive for an entire year, as these were big PS1 exclusives back in the day developed by Naughty Dog. It’s weird knowing the developers of The Last of Us made these games, but it’s true.

N. Sane Trilogy is an incredible remaster of these three classic platformers, updating them to current standards while still remaining faithful. That meansyou’ll die a lot, but it’s so rewarding to finally beat a level or get a gem you’ve been working on for so long.

3Ghostwire: Tokyo

A Standout Japanese Open-World Title

Initially a PS5 exclusive,Ghostwire: Tokyois one game you don’t want to play the launch 1.0 version. It’s incredibly restrictive and bare bones, but once you install all the updates, it might as well be a completely different game.

The story’s the same, but the combat has a lot of improvements and added mechanics, as well as a bunch of new content added to the game world and an entirely new mode called Spider’s Thread. Despite Ghostwire not being as huge as other Bethesda open-world titles, with this amount of content, you’ll still put a ton of time into this game, and all of it is thoroughly enjoyable.

2Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

A Must-Play Narrative Adventure Game

While Hellblade 2 remains an Xbox exclusive, the original is still available on PS4, and despite it being released in 2017, it’s already a classic adventure game.Hellblade 1 and 2 are similar in quality, but Hellblade 1 has better pacing, leading to an overall smoother campaign.

It’s engaging the whole way through, whereas Hellblade 2 can drag at points. Both titles are short and sweet, meaning if you don’t have much time to play games these days, they will be right up your alley. Headphones are a must here, and they transform the entire experience, given the protagonist suffers from psychosis.

1Fallout 4

Like Furiosa. Not As Good, But Still Great

One game people love to dunk on isFallout 4, and it’s not deserved. Is it a big step down from Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Yes. Is it still a great game? Absolutely. The open world, locations to explore, and stuff to find are still just as fun and well-executed as prior titles. The DLC add-ons are great, and there’s no stinkers like Mothership Zeta or Honest Hearts in prior games.

Base building is also a great addition, and it later returned in Starfield. On top of all that, there’s a native PS5 version, unlike many other Xbox games on PlayStation. You get DualSense support and 60fps, an awesome treat that greatly enhances the experience.
