Okay, we know we’re starting off this list with a Legendary pickaxe right away, but it needs to be said. Soul Seeker is the best pickaxe in the game, and is a must-have if you plan on doing some serious mining. You can evenget an achievement once you craft this pickaxe!
Aside from having a fast mining speed and giving off a blue glow, Soul Seeker really shines with its infinite durability and chance to drop ore while mining. This means that as you mine any ordinary block, you may get some valuable ore. Interestingly, this also works on blocks that you place on the ground yourself.
How To Obtain:
Next up, we have the Scarlet Hand Drill. Rather than making this, you will need to find it within a chest. The best way to go about searching for this item is to look for locked scarlet chests, as these have around an eight percent chance of yielding the drill.
Rather than doubling as a weapon, its sole purpose is to mine, which means that it’s pretty darn good at it. While the Scarlet Drill doesn’t have infinite durability like the Soul Seeker, its speed is a force to be reckoned with.
The Hand Mortar is a weapon that shoots out explosive projectiles doing a huge amount of explosive damage. While this gun can be found in a wide variety of places, you will have around a21 percent chance of getting it after defeating Malugaz the Corrupted. Thankfully, this boss can be fought relatively early in the game.
What sets the Hand Mortar apart is its ability to damage both enemies and blocks. It’s worth noting though, that you can take damage from this as well. If you are looking to blast away some wall, be sure to stand back.

The Galaxite Shovel is the best shovel in the game, capable of digging quite quickly. This is essential if you plan to do some extreme terraforming and building. With the help of the Galaxite Shovel, you’re able to quickly destroy the ground and replace it with something else.
If you want it to double as a weapon, you’re in luck! The Galaxite isn’t the best in terms of melee damage, but it’s still great if you are looking to kill some average enemies who stand in the way of your digging time.

This entry is a bit different from the others, but it still proves to be incredibly handy. With the Leash, you can lead cattle from other biomes right to your base. This is especially great if you want to raise livestock and get items like wool and milk.
Fortunately, the Leash can be crafted fairly early into the game, as you just need some fiber and a Livestock Workbench, which is crafted at the Basic Workbench. While this tool isn’t used like the others, is an important functional item.
The Iron Sledge Hammer is by no means the best sledge hammer in the game, but it’s essential for those completing early to mid-game content. With this hammer, you’re able to smash down on the ground, dealing anywhere from 110 to 773 mining damage. This window is quite large, and while you won’t always get 773 damage, it’s still a great tool.
Interestingly, the Iron Sledge Hammer has the highest maximum mining damage of all the sledge hammers in the game. Even the Galaxite Sledge Hammer only goes up to 754 damage. If you manage to get your hands on the Iron Sledge Hammer, be sure to use it!

Last but not least, we have Stormbringer. This is a Legendary hand drill that uses the Obliteration Ray to make. This powerful drill has infinite durability, as well as a whopping 1000 mining damage. Additionally, you will receive a movement buff after mining with this tool.
On top of all that, Stormbringer has some weapon-related perks as well. When targeting enemies, its lightning will chain to enemies with a melee damage range of 84-102. This doubles as a good weapon, especially since there is infinite durability.
