Summary
The Finalsis fast-paced and focuses on manipulating and destroying the arena with your team, while fighting the other team and not getting killed. Players choose a weight class and are assigned a team before completing an assigned task (depending on the mode).
Terminal Attack is a newer ranked mode, which came out after Cashout and Power Shift. The Finals depends on teams and communications, and Terminal Attack is no exception. If you’ve been playing The Finals but haven’t jumped into Terminal Attack yet, here are some tips to get you started.

9Know the Main Differences Between the Modes
Although allFinals modesinvolve shooting the other team and completing objectives, Terminal Attack focuses on smaller groups and more intense rounds, with no respawning and mostly permanent damage.
In Terminal Attack, you play on a team of five against one other team. Map damage remains between sets, and you can’t reload your gadgets or respawn until the round is over. In ranked Terminal Attack, it’s about as sweaty as the game gets.

Watch your health! You can only regenerate health to 100 HP in Terminal Attack.
8Know Which Team You’re On
In Terminal Attack, you may either be an attacker or a defender. As an attacker, you want to use the decryption key in one of two terminals across the map. As a defender, you do not want this to happen.
The round ends when the three minutes are up, a team has been eliminated, or the attackers fully unlock the terminal. As defenders, you have to stop the key decryption, even if the attacking team has been eliminated.

7Stay Alive
This might be the most obvious tip on the list, but you’re better off alive than dead! Your teammates can’t revive you, so play more carefully than you would in another mode.
In Terminal Attack, it’s even more important to be aware of your team, watch out for enemies, and master stealth mode. Pushing fights and trading out with enemies isn’t worth it in this mode: instead, think about what information you can get and how you can help your team.

6Stay Aware of the Map
The Finals focuses on map destruction and manipulation, which means that things are always changing in the game. As you move (quickly and quietly) around, stay aware of how the map has been destroyed in previous rounds and which routes are available to you.
With this mode, zip lines break, walls (and ceilings) have holes in them, and routes are unexpectedly blocked. If you’re staying aware, you’re ahead of the game and ready for any surprises.

If you walk up to the barrier at the beginning of the game in Kyoto, you can see where the other team will be starting from (look for the blue laser wall).
5Watch the Clock
Terminal Attack is all about timing. If you are trying to beat the clock, you have to know how long things take! You have 15 seconds to switchloadoutsand 25 seconds to get set up at the beginning of each round, with each team starting behind a barrier on the map.
The attackers have two and half minutes to start a decryption, which takes one minute to fully finish. However, it takes around 5 seconds to start the decryption, and the attacker starting it is vulnerable during that time (although they can back out to fight or run). It takes seven seconds to stop a decryption, so players should keep an eye on the last few seconds of the game. It can come down to those moments.

4Communicate, Communicate, Communicate
Although not many people use the Finals' voice chat, you don’t have to turn on your microphone to be a helpful teammate. In a mode with only ten players, you will need to let others know what you see and where you see it.
Be sure to use your ping wheel to show locations of enemy players, terminals, the decryption key, and other important parts of the map. A coordinated team is much more likely to succeed, especially in such a tight game mode.

3Optimize Your Role: Heavy Characters
Heavy characters are the guardians of the Finals. They are damage tanks and can enter a room first, carry larger weapons, and fortify an area for the rest of the team. As a teammate, a heavy character should block the other team from their goal.
If you play a heavy defender, kit up with barriers and mines and set yourself up by a terminal. Stop the attackers! On the other side, follow your faster attackers and prepare to take damage for them. You want to distract the big guns so your team can start the decryption.

2Optimize Your Role: Medium Characters
Medium characters are a little faster and have a little less health than heavy characters. Their main job is to add firepower to any team. With tools like the Guardian Turret and Land Mines, a medium character has a wide range of artillery and can provide flexible firepower against any class of character.
For medium fans, bring a Guardian Turret and watch a terminal or a well-traveled section of the map. As an attacker, set up turrets and mines during decryption and keep the defenders out. Mediums on both teams will be tenacious fighters and can provide the team with excellent mobility.

The Medium kit does not nclude the healing beam or defibrillator in Terminal Attack.
1Optimize Your Role: Light Characters
As the name implies, light charactersare the fastest and lightest character class. However, a light character also has less health, which makes them squishy in a mode without revives or healing abilities.
Whether you are a defender or an attacker, you’ll have to be sneaky as a light character. Know how to traverse the map silently, use your cloaking device regularly, and inform your team when you see enemies (you might not survive a fight on your own).
