Summary
If you can’t tell based on one look atThank Goodness You’re Here, this isn’t the most structured game. You’ll find youradventure around the fictional townof Barnsmouth largely dictated by fate as random events force you into different areas.
However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t have any goals. In fact, people all around town seemingly can’t help but ask for your help with a variety of odd jobs, so which are the best throughout the game?

8Mowing Lawn
A Tragic Love Story
One of the first jobs you can help out with in Thank Goodness You’re Here will be a spot of gardening. You can explore the opening area and look around the main square of the town, but eventually, you’ll realize you can’t progress until you help with mowing the lawn.
As you trigger the event, you might be a little confused with how it works since you’re still early on in the game. Once you get the hang of mowing side to side, you’ll realize that you’re getting ever closer to the lovebird flowers pining after each other in the foreground. Don’t worry though, they move on fast.

7Cleaning Up In Price Shaggers
Middle Aisle Mischief
Upon your first visit to the discount store, Price Shaggers, charming member of staff Kerry, will ask if you’re able to help clean up the middle aisle, since it’s in a bit of a state. As you traverse further into the store, you’ll find the middle aisle is a simple platforming puzzle, one you can’t beat unless everything is destroyed.
We never learn if Kerry is in a twisted version of reality, or if she just has an anarchic sense of humour, but once the middle of the store is completely destroyed, she’ll be happy that you’ve helped her out.

6The Brigadier’s Birds And Beans
An Unconventional Fetch Quest
Partway through your journey in Barnsmouth, you’ll make your way into a dark alleyway… until your way will be blocked by a bin with a locked door. That’s when the brigadier will ask if you’re able to fetch him some beans, so you make your way up the stairs beside you and knock a comically large can down towards him, which he quickly drags into his home inside the bin.
When you’re there, he won’t let you out the back exit until you fetch him his saluting seagulls from around the market. They aren’t too well hidden, so this won’t pose a challenge, and once you find them all, you’ll finally be granted passage through the strange man’s idyllic but slightly bean-smeared home.

5Fish Shop Repair Man
Refill The Tool Box
After you find your way into the fish and chip shop, you’ll soon discover that the repair man is missing his tools. You’ll first need to find his spanner, which has been swallowed by one of the fishmonger’s fish, then the screwdriver which is being sold by the rats in the miniature supermarket above Price Shaggers. Finally, the hammer, which you need to help the fisherman bring up from underwater.
Each time the repair man will magically appear where his tool is discovered to blame the closest person for being a thief, but once you’ve got all three, you’ll finally get the fish and chip shop up and running again.

4Can You Pick Up Spirit Level Bubbles?
Accidental Agent Of The Law
In one of the more mean-spirited quests we receive in the game, after running back to the fountain, we find the builders won’t let us through until we pick up some spirit-level bubbles for us (which they ask while laughing at us) so we head back to Price Shaggers.
There we’ll find Flo chuckling on the phone, only to hang up when she sees us to direct us to the back of the store. There, to her surprise, is a room full of bubbles, one of which we can catch with a net to raise us all the way above the town. As we plummet back down, the net will end up catching the bootlegger, who has been harassing the town, so at least there’s a happy ending.

3Stuck In The Sewer Grate
Make A Wish
The first main job you’ll run into is the eccentric man, who has his arm stuck in the sewer grate picking up a coin. He requests you help him find lubrication for his big escape, but when you find your way to the butter store, you’ll discover the key has been lost.
The locksmith is of course, at the pub, so you’ll need to get him a drink before he goes to do his job. Once you’re in, you accidentally send a giant block of butter flying towards the man in the sewer grate, who uses it to pull himself (and the rest of the sewer grate) out of the ground. With his new penny, he wonders what to spend it on, and seeing the new hole (he created), he decides that the best thing to do isthrow the coin into what he believes to be a wishing well.

2Milk Shy
Can’t Stand Black Tea
Exploring the residential district, you’ll find a man in tears because he doesn’t have any milk for his tea. However, he’s just too milk shy to ask the milkman to get him any. When you approach on his behalf, the seller will tell you his poor cow Bessie has been feeling down and needs some chips to cheer her up.
If you’ve fixed up the chip shop, it’s just a case of getting there, helping chop up the tatties, getting momentarily kidnapped by a stray bird, and then delivering the chips. It all ends in a psychedelic milky explosion, leaving everyone satisfied.

1Helping Everyone Song
Big Finale
Your time in Thank Goodness You’re Here will be brought to a semi-abrupt end when you’re invited to help fix a couple’s clock. The mini-game starts to descend into something out of control as more and more of the colourful characters from the story join in, asking you to help with their various tasks.
An ode to the needy townspeople soon becomes almost impossible to keep track of, but before you lose hope, don’t worry, the mayor of town isfinallyready to see you now!
