Summary

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventureisn’t just about poses and battles, it’s a series that shows just how imaginative the writer, Hirohiko Araki, can be. What keeps the series going is the concept of Stands, the physical manifestations of a person’s spirit. These unique powers are extensions of the user’s soul, reflecting their abilities in their personality in some ways.

They come in all shapes and sizes, with abilities that range from the mundane to the utterly bizarre. Some Stands are so creative that you’ll be blindsided by the way they’re written into the story, and they really stand out sometimes. Every part from Stardust Crusaders to Stone Ocean to JoJolion, that has yet to be adapted into an anime, offers some of the coolest Stands you’re able to imagine.

Rohan Kishibe’s Heaven’s Door checking the memories of a kid in Diamond is Unbreakable

Beware of spoilers for many of JoJo’s parts, including the ones not adapted into the anime.

10Heaven’s Door

Ability To Change The Personality And Memory Of A Person To Whatever You Desire

More than just mind control, this Stand is a versatile tool for its user, Rohan Kishibe. It allows him to extract information and even rewrite memories for his own benefit. Imagine being able to instantly learn someone’s deepest secrets and rewrite that person’s brain to an extent.

It’s a power that can theoretically beat everyone’s Stand on this list, and there’s no denying that it has a lot of applications. Heaven’s Door started off as a weak Stand that needed the opponent to be exposed to Rohan’s manga before being able to exact his will, but it evolved and can now be used anytime, limited only by its close range.

Killer Queen posing in Diamond is Unbreakable

9Killer Queen

A Stand With Explosive Capabilities

Yoshikage Kira’s Stand is the representation of his serial killer instinct and his desire for a quiet life. It’s not just about blowing things up, it’s about erasing any trace of his victims so that he can do his serial killing in peace.

Sheer Heart Attack is a secondary ability to his primary Stand and is a heat-seeking bomb that acts as a long-range extension of its main ability — planting bombs on everything he touches. Bites the Dust is a time-looping trap that protects his identity at all costs, by resetting time itself. At the end of Diamond is Unbreakable, it took many Stands to beat Kira and his Killer Queen Stand, showing just how powerful it was.

King Crimson with its user, Diavolo standing ominously behind it

8King Crimson

Erasing Time Itself Can Get Pretty Intense

Diavolo’s Stand is a paradox that has the ability to erase time… which can be a bit confusing to understand. It allows him to skip through seconds ahead into the future, predicting and manipulating his opponent and making a move accordingly.

The sheer unpredictability of this power makes Diavolo an incredibly dangerous opponent, as he can seemingly vanish and reappear at will, appropriately conveyed in the opening themes of Golden Wind. The weaker version of this Stand is possessed by Doppio, who’s Diavolo’s alternate personality, and can see into the future but not skip time. However, this alone is still incredibly advantageous in a fight, as seen with Doppio’s fight against Metallica.

Weather Report about to punch Pucci for killing their sister

7Weather Report

Manipulating The Weather And The Refraction Of Light Is Kind Of Out There

With control over the weather, Weather Report can create storms to destroy his opponent, manipulate atmospheric pressures, and even control oxygen levels around its targets. It’s a versatile power that can be used for both offense and defense, with Weather Report almost killing Pucci not once but twice.

At one point in Stone Ocean, Weather Report managed to summon a storm of poisonous frogs because that is an actual thing that happened at some point in history. Not only that, Weather Report’s ultimate ability, Heavy Weather can turn people into snails, so the amount of destruction that can be caused by this Stand is extreme.

Dio and Jotaro fighting with their respective close range Stands

6Star Platinum/The World

Stopping Time, Even For A Few Seconds, Is Enough To Win Any Fight

These Stands are the epitome of raw power, precision, and an overpowered ability that alters the course of a standard fight. Both are very similar, their time-stopping abilities are the same for both Jotaro Kujo and Dio,and their fight has been endlessly memed about since the anime was released.

Star Platinum and The World are close-range Stands with incredible speed and strength. Both represent their users’ personalities in more ways than one, and the final fight of Stardust Crusaders marked this when Jotaro ultimately won against Dio, despite having the same power. They are some of the most memorable and beloved Stands and characters of the series.

Funny Valentine activating D4C Love Train in the Steel Ball Run Manga

5Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (D4C)

Just Pull Out An Alternate Version Of Yourself From Another Universe

This Stand grants Funny Valentine, the President of the United States, the ability to hop between parallel dimensions. It’s a power that allows him to escape danger, summon alternate versions of himself, and basically play God, by simply replacing himself with another version of himself from a different universe.

Towards the end of Steel Ball Run, D4C gets another ability, which redirects any misfortune done to him, becoming invincible. It took Johnny Joestar’s Stand evolving into its final form that broke physics to defeat D4C once and for all.

Johnny Joestar posing with his Stand in the Steel Ball Run manga

4Tusk Act IV

An Ability That Defies The Laws Of Physics

Johnny Joestar’s Stand evolves throughout Steel Ball Run, culminating in this ultimate form. It’s a manifestation of the infinite spin, a concept rooted in the Golden Ratio — don’t ask how.

Tusk Act IV fires nails infused with this spin, capable of piercing through dimensions and homing in on its target with infinite force. It’s a power that breaks the laws of physics in ways that only Araki could imagine and can’t be stopped by a time-stop ability either, showing just how powerful and cool it is.

Enrico Pucci’s ultimate stand, Made in Heaven when it evolved

3Made In Heaven

Resetting The Universe Is Just Another Tuesday

Enrico Pucci’s Stand is the culmination of Dio’s plan to reach heaven or effectively determine the fate of every living thing in existence. It accelerates the flow of time, causing the universe to reset and evolve into a new reality where everyone’s fate is predetermined.

The Stand is a force of cosmic proportions, capable of manipulating the very fabric of existence. The only reason you could beat this Stand was if you were the main character and caught Pucci in a moment of weakness that solidified his defeat, though his goal of resetting the universe had already happened and the series underwent a soft reboot.

The Stand Wonder of U and its user, Toru in the manga, JoJolion

2Wonder Of U

Manipulating Karma, An Ability That’s Just Even More Out There

Toru’s Stand, Wonder of U, is a passive yet incredibly powerful ability from the eighth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, JoJolion. It manifests a calamity that befalls anyone who pursues Toru with harmful intent or is unfortunate enough to gaze upon Wonder of U’s back. This misfortune ranges from minor inconveniences to life-threatening accidents.

Wonder of U is a force of karma, punishing those who seek to harm its user. It’s an ability that the writer himself thinks is perhaps the most powerful and horrifying one he has come up with so far. Toru’s defeat ultimately came about only because of another ability that didn’t exist in the real world and thus couldn’t be detected by the Stand.

Giorno Giovanna and his stand Gold Experience, fully evolved from the anime

1Gold Experience Requiem

The Power To Nullify Any Action Is An Ultimate Power Indeed

Giorno Giovanna’s Stand evolves into this ultimate form, gaining the ability to nullify any action directed against it, similar to Wonder of U but superior in effect. It’s a resetting ability called ‘return to zero’ which will nullify any cause-and-effect relationship to its original state.

This makes Giorno virtually invincible, as all attacks and intentions against him are meaningless. It’s a power that goes beyond the limitations of the physical world and reality, and its ability is something Giorno doesn’t even understand. Gold Experience Requiem’s only victim in the anime has been Diavolo, who is now trapped in an infinite death loop.
