Kashyyyk was quite an important planet to the Galactic Republic, and after the war ended, several rebels, like Saw Gerrera took refuge there. Unfortunately, the planet also suffered. The Empire enslaved the Wookies, forcing them to have a hand in destroying their planet by burning and cutting down trees.
