Nearly 30 Periapts have been added toShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeancein a brand-new feature for this revamped version that rewards players who commit to rather strict party-building guidelines. You’ll unlock these over the course of the game, and while some aren’t quite worth the restrictions, others can really come in handy.
Below, we’ve included our personal favorites with as much justification as we can provide on what makes them tick so well for us. Whether our picks prove sufficient for your overarching Shin Megami Tensei 5 strategy, we cannot say, but at the very least, do consider giving them all a whirl.

Qadistu Entropy
Pray forgive us for not having a screenshot of this one’s text, but hopefully, the highly disturbing replacement image will make up for it. Anyway,Qadistu Entropy hits twice with heavy-tier multitarget Almighty attacks, which is pretty good in its own right, though hardly compelling enough to fill your entire party with the quartet of Vengeance-exclusive Qadistu villains.
It’s the bonuses that elevate Qadistu Entropy into the upper echelon of Periapts. There’s a high chance of inflicting your foes with Charm and a substantial HP recovery besides. While many foes resist Charm, a surprisingly high number of themdon’t. Nothing’s more satisfying than seeing a tough side boss too smitten to strike.

Mountain Gods
Konohana Sakuya is one of our favorite new demons in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, and as it happens, she pairs well with Oyamatsumi.Mountain Godsenables the Blossoming Sakura Magatsuhi Skill. Blossoming Sakura restores both HP and MP to all allies. It’s a moderate restoration, but it comes with a wonderful perk.
Namely, all stats are raised to the maximum for three turns. Sure, you might feel the need to heal up some more afterward, but your Agility and Defense will help you evade and withstand further attacks as you do. And there will be plenty of instances in which you won’t really need to top off your health at all, in which case you’ve gleaned a splendid offensive boost to pummel with.

Grimalkin
ForGrimalkin, you will need Nekomata, Neko Shogun, and Cait Sith in your party. The Feline Fury Magatsuhi Skill deals level-based physical damage to all foes with the Pierce effect in place to prevent any unseemly resistance or outright immunity on your enemies' part.
Feline Fury is best served as a three-turn deterrent. By lowering the Attack stat of the enemy team to the minimum for three turns, you’re curbing their enthusiasm to a far more manageable degree, even in unquestionably hard fights like Shiva. You’re also lowering their Defense to the minimum, so get in there and scratch and bite away like the cat party you are.

Cardinal Deity
By bringing together the four mountain gods from"The Golden Dragon’s Arrival"side quest, you’ll gain access to Omagatoki: Exploit. Rather than directly dealing damage or even debuffing, Omagatoki: Exploit raises the effectiveness of your party’s attacks that target enemy weaknesses for one turn.
On paper, this might not sound like much. In our experience, however, the damage modifier issubstantial. Since you’re giving your entire team this boost, you can turn the tide in a flash. Of course, on the flip side, your party will consist quite rigidly of Baihu, Qing Long, Zhuque, and Xuanwu - not something we’d recommend sticking with on a permanent basis.

Asgardian Kin
Asgardian Kinrequires Odin and Thor. With their powers combined, you can unleash the Magatsuhi Skill called Calamitous Thunder. It’s a severe electric-based attack to the entire enemy squad with Pierce to prevent resistance and an Attack/Defense minimization bonus.
Indeed, Calamitous Thunder is Feline Fury under another name and with a different element backing it up. There are, in fact, Periapts which unlock similar fare across every element. Why, then, do we care so much about the Asgardian Kin Periapt? And why did we bring up Feline Fury, for that matter?

Feline Fury is excellent for the early-to-mid-game, with demons that are relatively easy to acquire. Asgardian Kin, on the other hand, is phenomenal for the endgame, with a pair of demons in Odin and Thor who are supremely capable, and thus, well worth hanging out with. Though you’re even better off with Zeus, which leads us to…
Siblings Of Olympus
Two words: Harvest time. With theSiblings of OlympusPeriapt, you’ll need to set aside just two slots: Zeus and Demeter. What’s more, Zeus is handily one of the best demons in Shin Megami Tensei 5, and Demeter isn’t far behind.
Trigger Harvest Festival, the Magatsuhi Skill unlocked when Zeus and Demeter come together, and you’ll greatly increase all allies' HP beyond their maximum. There’s nothing better than an indomitable mountain of hit points when you’re hit hard and fast; it gives you time to continually recover without needing to revive your allies in-between. This is one heck of a Periapt.
