Summary
When playingCult of the Lamb, it’s easy to get caught up in the rogue-lite combat and sometimes overlook your cult itself, but building up your small army of cultists is a massive part of what makes this game stand out.
Now, with the Unholy Alliance update, amongst plenty of other changes, we’ve got a handful of new follower traits that will change how your cult acts. So what are all these follower traits, what should you keep an eye out for, and what should you try and weed out?

9Criminal Traits
The Impact Of Time In The Stocks
Before the update, your followers misbehaving and spending time in the stocks to repent for their crimes was nothing new, but now there are a few more ways this can impact how they’ll act. If you’re lucky, your followers might pick up the Reformed Criminal trait, and they’ll be 10% more productive.
On the other hand, you could end up with a Scarred or Hardened Criminal who will act like a coward or a jerk respectively. Also keep an eye out for Unlawful followers who can break themselves, and even other followers, out of the stocks!

8Cursed
Something Is Very Wrong
A lot of the follower traits you’re different cultists have can be quite subtle, and for most followers you won’t even notice the trait unless they are in a specific situation, but none of this can be said for cultists that end up cursed.
It’s hard to miss cursed followers wandering around your base, and you’ll want to keep an eye out for them since they are a pretty big liability if left unattended. As well as not working or contributing positively at all, they also tend to cannibalize any other followers who get in their way!

7Sleep Traits
Rough Night?
When your cult is sleeping overnight, you might see this as your chance to finally take a break and not have to worry about them, but in the case of cultists with these new traits, you might have to pay closer attention.
If a follower is a Snorer, they will sleep quietly themselves, but unfortunately wake up other followers, interrupting their sleep and perhaps draining their energy. Then there are Insomniac followers who won’t be sleeping at all anyway, but luckily for you, this means they’ll work throughout the night.

6Parent Traits
Proud Or Overwhelmed?
With the extra focus onmaking babiesin the previous Cult of the Lamb update, we now have some new traits to match our followers who end up being parents, but whether this is a good thing depends on how lucky you get with the trait they end up with.
Parent followers can end up either Proud or Overwhelmed. Having a Proud Parent follower is fantastic since they have unique thoughts about their child and are happy to hug them at any age, but if you end up with an Overwhelmed Parent, they’ll be exhausted more often than not, and even be more likely to have negative conversations.

5Poet
Bringing Some Culture To The Cult
Most of the new traits added in Unholy Alliance seem to add to a pre-existing mechanic or feature in Cult of the Lamb, but some of them are a little more random, for example, the Poet trait, which as the name implies, will transform your cultist into a lover of the poetic arts.
While anyone nearby the Poet can end up enjoying their lyricism, the life of a Poet follower is quite different from other cultists, not having any interactions (or doing any work for that matter), instead sitting at the edge of the base all day just writing poetry.

4Mission Traits
Turns Out A Mission Can Change You
One of the best ways to keepyour followers busyin Cult of the Lamb is to send them on a mission, and now we have some extra traits, these missions can end up having a variety of different effects depending on the follower.
If they are Inspired by their mission, they’ll only have positive conversations, and if they’re Excited, they’ll have a higher chance of mating after their adventure. But if they’re Disturbed by their mission, then they’ll end up Catatonic (another new trait) which makes them unable to perform any tasks. No need to worry though, since this can be healed.

3Spy
Sneaking Suspicion
Noticed anything suspicious around your cult since the new update has added? Well, then there is a chance that you have a Spy in your midst. This can be a very troublesome type of cultist to keep hanging about, so make sure to weed them out!
A Spy can act just like any other follower in your cult, but if you don’t notice that they’ve been lurking about, after 5 days they will end up abandoning their station, not before scarpering with 10% of your gold.

2Relationship Traits
More The Merrier
If you were looking to spice up your marriage in Cult of the Lamb, then you’ll be happy to hear that there are new spousal traits, as well as marriage traits, and you can now even be Polyamorous. If a cultist is Polyamorous, it’s worth noting that they won’t take on any other marriage-related traits.
These include Jealous and Murderous Spouses who will fight other spouses until they are killed (and watch out, since if one is Murderous they’ll always win), and also Happily and Unhappily Married followers who are either 20% more or less productive.

1Pettable
By Popular Demand
With how many different forms are available for our charming cultists, you might have fallen for the desire to petyour followersjust like you would any other cute animal in a game, but now if your follower is Pettable, you’ll be able to pet to your heart’s content.
This interaction is available with followers who have this trait, and it’s worth noting that you’ll be able to pet any follower that has this trait no matter what skin they have equipped, so feel free to mix up which forms you choose to use!
