Summary

A typicalMMORPGhas different roles that you may fill, such as DPS, tank, and healer. These roles determine how you play the game, which includes your main skill rotation and general stats. While most MMOs out there give you some sort of healing ability, not all create a unique and fun healing class.

In this list, we are going to take a look at some MMORPGs with the best healing roles. This will focus on how defined it is, which is important for those who are sure that they want to be a healer. For example, a game with multiple classes who can just restore a bit of health to players in a simple manner isn’t the most exciting, and won’t make the list.

First up, we have Final Fantasy 14. This is one of the most popular MMORPGs out there, and that’s for a good reason. Rather than just healing other players in your party in a simple way, Final Fantasy 14 makes each role feel unique and important. Let’s take a look at Scholar for example.

Scholar is mainly a shielding healer; they have a faerie that mainly handles the restorative side of the class.

This healer class is quite powerful, with some great healing and utility abilities. What makes this game great in terms of classes though is your ability to switch on the same character. With several healing jobs to choose from, you can switch up your healer role from time to time, providing some variation to your gameplay.

Lord of the Rings Online is still going strong since 2007, which is quite a feat considering the amount of Tolkien content in existence. In this MMO, you’re able to find some race-bound classes, as well as some that can be played by all (or most) races. Some of the healing roles include ones like Minstrel, Rune-keeper, and Captain.

Do the names of these classes intrigue you? One notable healing class is the Rune-keeper; this class can heal, but is also capable of dealing huge amounts of damage, which is much-needed in a variety of situations.

Next up, we have World of Warcraft. This is anotherlong-running MMORPGpacked with tons of classes for you to try out. Like other games on our list, the classes in this game are very well-defined; the role of each one is obvious. This doesn’t mean they are simple though!

The healer role is absolutely essential in World of Warcraft! In some games, you can get away with not having a healer, but in World of Warcraft, the presence of this role can be the difference between failure and success.

For example, if you originally started as a Priest, you will eventually be able to choose from three specializations, including Discipline, Holy, and Shadow. You can go the DPS route and choose to be a Shadow Priest, or decide to focus on healing as a Discipline or Holy Priest.

New World is a bit different from the other MMORPGs on our list. Earlier, we noted that games on this list would have well-defined classes; New World goes against this, but it still manages to succeed. Rather than choosing a predetermined class, you willshape your own build to fit into a typical class archetype.

This gives you some freedom to make the build that is just right for you. To heal, you will need a Life Staff, but in your other hand, you may hold any other weapon that you see fit. This can lead to some trial and error, but it can also make for a unique healing experience.

EverQuest II

There are a lot of classes to choose from in EverQuest 2, with all of them being split into four main categories; Fighter, Mage, Priest, and Scout. Within the Priest group, you can find four more subgroups; Druid, Cleric, Shaman, and Shaper. Oh, and each one of those is split into even more subclasses.

For example, within the Cleric-type class, you can play as either an Inquisitor or Templar. These classes are pretty similar, but the sheer amount of options in EverQuest 2 provides some great variation. Overall, this game is great if you want multiple healing classes to choose from.

Guild Wars

Last but not least, we have Guild Wars. At this point, you’ve probably heard (or played) Guild Wars 2, but before this, we had the original Guild Wars. Rather than picking a predetermined class with a limited set of skills, Guild Wars gives you ten profession options with each one having tons of skills to choose from.

You will also be able to choose a secondary profession. For example, you can eventually become a Mesmer with a secondary profession of Necromancer. This opens up your skills even further!

So, you can play as a class that specializes in healing, but then take it a step further and customize your build, making the game feel quite diverse. The Monk class in Guild Wars is often regarded as one of the best healing classes out there!
