Summary

Let’s face it,Unreal Engine 5has unleashed some serious graphics that are getting harder to discern from reality. Body Cam, and other games like it, are working hard to push the boundaries to their limits and beyond. Body Cam immerses the player in a way that hasn’t been reached by many.

The maps aren’t just for show, they serve well for close-quarters urban warfare and can keep the pace of the matches exciting and a little stressful if you aren’t paying attention to your surroundings. Everyone’s got a map they prefer, or they’re the best at, so we’d like to take a moment and show you ours.

Backrooms Easter Egg map with yellow walls

7Backroom

Liminal Horror With Guns

The draw of the backrooms is the fear of what could, or could not, be just around the corner. The fear of the unknown leaves us, humans, with the fear of everything, and given how creepy liminal spaces can be on their own, flirting with the unknown the way the original concept was handled.

The stage itself looks well-made, but adding guns takes away what made the backrooms sucha bone-chilling experience. It just feels more like a ‘Hey we put this in the game. Surprise!’ instead of adding something unique to BodyCam’s experience.

Worn house front view obscured by abandoned construction equipment and piles of wood

6Worn House

The Most Violent Housing Auction

Aesthetically,Worn House captures how lonely and dilapidated abandoned houses can be.This house in particular looks as though it was a passion project that had long been left for the surrounding nature to reclaim it. You wonder how or what could have made whoever owned it outright abandon it, but the answer is long lost to you.

All that being said, the size of the map and the lack of places to strategize makes you play only one way effectively. Even the various crates and scaffolding offer limited verticality to take advantage of. It’s serviceable, but that’s all.

a path in the woods lit up by sunlight while the surrounding woods are cloaked in darkness

5Tumblewood

An Interesting Thicket Of Forest

The only map that doesn’t take place on an industrial site, Tumblewood does a fantastic job showcasing both thebeauty of the sunlight breaking through the treeline of the forest, and just how hard it would be to find someone decked out in camo among the trees in the thick of battle. It shakes up the battlefield.

It’s become pretty contentious among fans of the game. On the one hand, it’s appreciated that it’s a step in a different direction than the other maps in the game, but Tumblewood can be difficult to navigate due to a lack of landmarks to remember.

4Russian Building

Urban Warfare In Very Tight Quarters

This map is where the duality of dilapidation and realism come together and give you something special. The Russian Building is on the larger side of our list of maps, and there are plenty of nooks and crannies to hide and plot in. Players who prefer a more open map are going to be disappointed with this one. We’re all about close-quarters combat here.

It’s not fair to say that there isn’t any open space, given the courtyard in the middle of the map, but honestly, it isn’t the highlight of the map that you’d think it would be. It leaves you too vulnerable for one, and two, it’s better to get the jump on the enemy from behind by hiding in a room.

3Airsoft House

Makes You Want To Have Target Practice

This map takes the best part of a laser tag map, such as hiding spots and the cover of darkness, and removes the pulsating music and inability to see. Airsoft House is reminiscent of something you would imagine with your friends as you shoot each other with water guns. While deadlier than water guns, it’s a fun callback.

It’s a smaller map, but that doesn’t mean there’s a lack of spaces to trap the enemy in. Plus, there are a few vantage spots where there’s a second-floor space for you to pick off a few from the other team for an advantage.

Abandoned Hospital hallways with blinking red lights and the end of it

2Abandoned Hospital

A Haunted House Lit With Gunfire

What’s scarier than an abandoned house or a forest that could be hiding who knows what? The remnants of a hospital that’s long been deserted. In the hospital, while still having tight spaces to fight it out, the hallways are much larger than those of the house or tight quarters of the Russian Building.

There are moments on the map where you feel that a hand is going to come up from behind and grab you to strap you on a gurney. But fear not, the only ghosts you have to worry about are the future ones you’re going to make of the enemies on your map.

1Oil Rig

Overcoming The Oceanic Opps

If you’ve seen an oil rig in real life, it looks like the most dangerous jungle gym you can find yourself on. It’s a series of platforms that are held on top of stilts deep down on the ocean floor. This map is all about verticality, with many sets of stairs for you to pick and choose your point of entry into the fray.

It’s regarded as one of the more fun maps to play on and can make for some serious high stakes when playing, seeing as how you could easily fall off the map with a wrong step. Don’t catch yourself slipping (pun intended) on this map, or you’ll be underwater in no time flat.
