Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has dozens of Aftermarket Parts to use, powerful attachments that add new functionality to a weapon. They can range from small attachments that enhance your melee to fundamental reworks of how a weapon behaves. The JAK Protean Kit sits firmly in the latter category.
Installing this kit converts the MW2 RAAL LMG into a powerful hybrid between a marksman rifle and LMG. By switching to semi-auto fire, you convert this weapon into a two-tapping machine in all Multiplayer modes, and it becomes a solid option in Warzone for mid-range engagements. This guide covers how to unlock the JAK Protean Kit and how to create the best loadout for it.

How To Unlock The JAK Protean Kit
The JAK Protean Kit is tied tothe fourth set of Weekly Challenges in Season 5.Completing any five challenges listed in Week 4 will unlock the JAK Protean for the RAAL LMG. You’ll also need the RAAL unlocked to use this kit. If you didn’t play MW2, you’ll need to unlock this LMG through the Armory Unlocks system.
Once Season 5 ends, you can unlock the JAK Protean Kitthrough Armory Unlocks.
Installing the JAK Protean Kit will lower the RAAL’s base damage and overall mobility. In exchange, you gain a slightly faster fire rate and asignificantlystronger semi-auto mode. While in semi-auto, the JAK Protean can two-tap players from 50+ meters, and that’s anywhere on the body (excluding leg shots). Building this weapon for its semi-auto mode is highly encouraged. If you want a strong full-auto LMG, use any other MW3 LMG instead; the JAK Protean Kit just doesn’t cut it.
The Best JAK Protean Build
This build is tailored towards theRAAL’s semi-auto mode, turning it into an aggressive marksman rifle you can use on the move. While the gun’s mobility isn’t great, we can greatly enhance its handling stats withADS attachments. We achieve an ADS speed of 300ms with this build, but you can get it even lower with some tweaks.
We start by equipping theJAK Protean Kitto make the semi-auto mode incredibly strong. The optic it comes with by default isn’t great, so we suggest installingyour favorite optic—we prefer the Quartermaster Classic Reflex. We then install a50 Round Belt Magfor better mobility, theFSS Riot Stockfor handling, and theSL Razorhawk Laserto greatly improve our ADS speed.
If you want the build to cater to more aggressive playstyles, you canreplace the stock with a Demo Folding Stock. This will further reduce your ADS speed and greatly increase your mobility, but it comes at the cost of significant visual recoil. Your actual recoil doesn’t get hit much, but the visual shake you’ll experience from each shot is rather extreme. If you may handle the increase in optic kick, it’s well worth using.
Loadout Recommendations
TheModular Assault Rigis always a great choice for any Multiplayer build. You get access to every loadout option possible, including two gear perks. We useQuick-Grip Glovesto quickly swap to a close-range secondary like the Renetti. We then equipAll-Terrain Bootsfor a solid boost to all mobility stats, then theCompression Plateto instantly regenerate HP with kills.
The second gear perk is up to you. We preferMag Holster.
Equipment is dealer’s choice here; tailor it for your favorite playlists. For general play, you can’t go wrong withStimsand theMed BoxField Upgrade for rapid HP regeneration for situations where you can’t active Compression Plate.
