Part of the fun of the game is strategically using your characters to build teams to take on Teyvat’s challenges. One often-overlooked aspect in team building is the use of crowd control characters. These characters help you manage the battlefield by controlling your enemies' movements.
There are three main types of crowd control techniques: grouping (pulling your enemies together), immobilization (restricting enemy movements), and taunting (redirecting your enemies' attention). By mixing and matching crowd control abilities with support or DPS skills, you’ll sweep the battlefield!
Frozen elemental reactionsare a form of immobilization, but this article will focus on skill-based crowd control mechanisms.
11Jean
Grouping, Immobilization
Jeanis the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and an asset both in the office and on the battlefield. Her Elemental Skill,Gale Blade, releases a small storm of swirling windthat throws enemies in the direction of Jean’s attack while dealing Anemo damage. By holding the Elemental Skill button, Jean’s vacuum field’s strength increases at the cost of stamina.
Attenuation refers to the strength of the pull on enemies. If attenuation is greater than zero, then the pull on enemies will be greater closer to the center of the vacuum field. If attenuation is zero, then the pulling strength will be equal throughout the AoE.
Jean is a powerful addition to any team with her crowd control and healing abilities but shines best by triggering Swirl reactions in a DPS role,especially paired with characters with off-field abilities, such as Xiangling or Yae Miko.

10Anemo Traveler
Grouping

Taunting
Mondstadt’s outrider, Amber, is the first character you meet on your journey. She has a bright, bubbly personality with a taunting skill to match. HerElemental Skill deploys her explosive puppet, Baron Bunny. Upon deployment, Baron Bunny does a happy dance, drawing the attention of nearby enemies before itexplodes, dealing Pyro damage.
While on the field, Baron Bunny can be moved by effects such as gravity, collisions, attacks, and grouping character skills and is susceptible to elemental reactions like Frozen.
By holding down the Elemental Skill button,Ambercan aim where to throw Baron Bunny, furthering your ability to control the field and use the environment to your advantage. For example, Amber can toss Baron Bunny off a cliff to draw enemies to an ideal vantage point, allowing you to pummel your enemies from above.
8Faruzan
Haravatat Darshan’s MadamFaruzanis not only an expert in ancient technology, butshe’s also a master of crowd control. Faruzan’sElemental Skill, Wind Realm of Nasamjnin, applies a Pressurized Collapse effectupon hitting its target. This creates a vortex of swirling wind that pulls in anything and anyone in the vicinity, dealing significant Anemo damage.
If the Wind Realm of Nasamjnin does not hit anyone, it will trigger a Pressurized Collapse wherever the arrow lands. You can use this to your advantage to group enemies spread across the battlefield.
A unique mechanic of Faruzan’s skill is its ability to interact with allies. If the Pressurized Collapse hits an ally’s object, such as Amber’s Baron Bunny or Xiangling’s Guoba, it triggers a Swirl effect in addition to the vortex. This results in a potent combination of standard Anemo damage from the attack and buffed damage from the object, amplifying your team’s overall effectiveness in combat.

7Ganyu
Ganyu, a half-qilin Adeptus, serves as the diligent general secretary of the Liyue Qixing. HerElemental Skill, Trail of the Qilin, creates an ice lotusas she gracefully retreats backwards. Thisice lotus taunts enemies, drawing their attention and giving Ganyu the perfect opportunity to unleash powerful shots from her bow from a safe distance. After a set duration, the ice lotus will explode, dealing significant Cryo damage to nearby foes.
If combined with a Hydro application, Ganyu’s ice lotus has the potential to freeze enemies when it explodes, immobilizing them.
One of the strategic advantages of Ganyu’s Elemental Skill is that the ice lotus remains on the field even if you switch her out for another character. This allows you to plan your next moves carefully, leveraging the ice lotus to control the battlefield and maximize damage output.
6Lynette
Taunting, Grouping
Lynettemay be shy, but she can hold her own on the battlefield! She uses her stage experience in herElemental Burst, Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift. After dealing Anemo damage, Lynette uses sleight-of-hand to summon a Bogglecat Box.Enemies are inexplicably drawn to the Bogglecat Boxas it periodically spouts Anemo shots. If the box comes into contact with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo energy, it will create Vivid Shots of the corresponding element.
Unlike most Elemental Absorption mechanics, Lynette’s Bogglecat Box prioritizes element reactions: Cryo, Pyro, Hydro, and then Electro.
Lynette’s C1 constellation, A Cold Blade Like a Shadow, adds another layer to her combat prowess. When her Elemental Skill,Enigmatic Feint, hits a target, it creates a vortex at the point of contact, sucking in surrounding enemies. This combination of crowd control and elemental versatility makes Lynette a highly adaptable character.

5Kaedehara Kazuha
Kazuha of the Kaedehara Familyis the last in a long line of renowned blacksmiths; he practices Kaedehara Sword Art, a martial art developed to test newly forged blades. Kazuha has taken ownership of the sword art, skillfully incorporating Anemo abilities into his movements, and hisElemental Skill, Chihayaburu, is a secret technique that pulls enemies towards him before launching them into the air.
Kazuha’s attenuation is reversed, meaning that the vacuum pull is stronger the farther the enemies are from the center of the attack.
Kaedehara Kazuhathen follows up with a plunging attack, creating a small wind tunnel upon landing that regroups his enemies, and this seamless blend of swordsmanship and Anemo control makes Kazuha a dynamic and versatile combatant on the battlefield, especially when facing large mobs in domains and the Spiral Abyss. He is best paired with support and DPS characters that can trigger a Swirl effect with his Anemo attacks, maximizing damage output.

Mona Megistus is known for her powerful astrology skills, which she pairs with hydromancy to great success. By holding the Elemental Skill button,Monagains a short period of Invincibility Frames, giving her the freedom to unleash a tirade of attacks without fear of damage.
Mona’sElemental Burst, Stellaris Phantasm, traps enemies inside Illusory Bubbles, rendering weaker enemies immobile. These Illusory Bubbles also apply the Omen effect to affected enemies, which grants an attack buff against them while they are restrained. Mona is a powerhouse in her own right, but her skills can be maximized when paired with Dendro and Electro characters totake advantage of Hyperbloom elemental reactions.
3Sucrose
Albedo’s research assistant, Sucrose, is not only a talented alchemist, she has also mastered incorporating her researchinto her fighting style. HerElemental Skill, Astable Anemohypostasis Creation - 6308, and Elemental Burst, Forbidden Creation - Isomer 75 / Type II, summon a small and large Wind Spiritrespectively that pulls enemies and objects toward them before launching the enemies into the air, causing Anemo damage. The Forbidden Creation - Isomer 75 / Type II also has Elemental Absorption abilities. If the Wind Spirit comes into contact with Hydro, Pyro, Electo, or Cryo energy, it will deal additional Elemental DMG of that type.
Sucrose’s passive talents buff Elemental Mastery, making her an effectivesupport for characters like Lisaand Xiangling with elemental AoE.
