Lorcana Madam Mim Elephant by Kenneth Anderson-1

10Madam Mim, Elephant

You Can Have This Damage

Madam Mim, Elephant is a fascinating card in Shimmering Skies. It further pushes the damage-shifting theme that has steadily been growing in Amethyst for the past few sets.

Madam Mim has been a solid meta choice for Lorcana players lately, and this Elephant version of her follows the same pattern of bouncing another character back to your hand when you play it. With some solid stats and the ability to sustain, Madame Mim might have gained a new piece to play with.

Lorcana Revive by Jare Matthews-1

9Revive

An Amber Return

This five-cost, non-inkable Amberaction seems pretty basic at first. you’re able to play a character card with a cost of five or less from your discard for free. You have to remember too, that when you play a card this way, you still get any effects that trigger when they come into play, so you can double up on certain effects and abilities.

The downside to this card is that you need to have something worthwhile in your discard pile to grab for it to really do anything. That said, by the time you’re able to play Revive, around your fourth or fifth turn or so, you’ll likely be able to bring back anything from a Rapunzel, Gifted with Healing to a Beast, Tragic Hero

Lorcana Clarabelle Light on her Hooves by Jennifer Park and Livio Caccitore-1

8Clarabelle, Light On Her Hooves

The Belle Of The Ball

Not everyone is going to be familiar with Clarabelle, and that’s okay, her card will soon make sure more people know about this classic Disney character. Clarabelle, Light on her Hooves is a Legendary Emerald character, one that has a very solid ability that triggers at the end of your turn.

If an opponent has more cards in their hand than you, you get to draw cards so your hand matches. Clarabelle’s cost is holding her back a bit, as a cost of 7 is a bit expensive. You can shift her for 5, but even then, she is an odd fit in typical Emerald archetypes.

Lorcana Else The Fifth Spirit by Lisanne Koeteeuw-1

7Elsa, The Fifth Spirit

Loaded With Keywords

Elsa is one of the most popular Disney characters from the more recent era of films, so it is no surprise that she has a slew of powerful cards to keep her at the top of the game. This Amethyst Elsa is an inkable five drop that has both rush and evasive, letting her take down other evasive characters the turn she comes out.

With a willpower of five she can take a hit or two before succumbing to the challenges as well, which is great when paired with her Crystalize ability to exert an opponent’s character, opening up practically everything in play to an attack.

Lorcana Robin Hood Sharpshooter by Federico Maria Cugliari-1

6Robin Hood, Sharpshooter

He Never Misses

This card might be one of the surprise hits in Shimmering Skies. For a cost of four, Robin Hood, Sharpshooter lets you look at the top four cards of your deck anytime he quests. If you find an action card there that costs six or less, you can play it for free.

Sure the rest of the cards go to the discard pile, but getting a free Dragon Fire, Revive, oreven A Whole New Worldwhile also getting two lore when you quest makes for a fantastically versatile card. This Robin Hood is a little weak at just one strength but having four willpower means he’ll likely survive a round or two.

Lorcana Anna Diplomatic Queen by Dylan Bronner and Celeste Jamneck-1

5Anna, Diplomatic Queen

Versatile Is Her Middle Name

Some of the best cards in Lorcana are the ones that give you options, and Anna, Diplomatic Queen gives you three very good choices to pick from when she enters play. With her Royal Resolution ability, Anna lets you pay two more ink to either make an opponent discard a card, give something +2 strength, or completely banish an already damaged character.

Not to mention you get a 2/3 character out of it too, letting you play it into an aggressive board early on, or hold her back for a bigger turn later on.

Lorcana Merlin Intellectual Visionary by Jake Parker-1

4Merlin, Intellectual Visionary

Anything In Your Deck Is Yours

One thing Lorcana has been lacking is a card that lets you search for anything in your deck and with Merlin, Intellectual Visionary, you can finally do that. This six cost non-inkable card can be shifted for five ink, letting you put those cheaper Merlins, like his Goat and Rabbit iterations to even better use.

Shifting Merlin is important since that’s the only way to get to use his Overdeveloped Brain ability. If you shift Merlin, you get to search your deck for any card and put it in your hand, which is pretty darn good considering you also get a 3/7 that can quest for two lore out of it too.

Lorcana Daisy Duck Donald’s Date by Francesco Dippolito and Giuseppe di Maio-1

3Daisy Duck, Donald’s Date

One-drop characters are some of the most sought-after in Lorcana and Daisy Duck, Donald’s Date is just another to be added to that list. For just one ink you get a highly efficient quester, letting you quest for two lore while she’s sitting with a 1/4 body.

This one-ink slot is getting a little for Amber, but Daisy Duck might be the best released yet. The downside to Daisy is that your opponent might get to draw a card when you quest with her, since each opponent revealed the top card of their deck and if it’s a character, they get to add it to their hand. Interestingly, if the revealed card is not a character, it gets tossed to the bottom of their deck, not actually giving them any information as to what they’re drawing next.

Lorcana Prince Naveen Ukulele Player by Rosa la Barbera and Livio Caccitore-1

2Prince Naveen, Ukulele Player

It’s Going To Be A Very Long Song

Playing two cards is better than just one, and when that second card you get for free and can cost up to two more than Prince Naveen, Ukelele Player, it catapults the Prince to being one of the best cards in the set.

When Prince Naveen is played, you get to play a song with a cost of 6 or less for free thanks to his It’s Beautiful, No? ability. You can get a free And Along Came Zeus, A Whole New World, or Be King Undisputed. He also sings for 6, which is a huge amount for a four-cost card.

Lorcana Mufasa Ruler of Pride Rock by Jeanne Plounevez-1

1Mufasa, Ruler Of Pride Rock

A True Monarch

There is a ton going on with this Mufasa, Ruler of Pride Rock and all of it is incredibly good. For eight ink you get a 4/9 character that can quest for an impressive four lore. Even better, when this Mufasa comes into play you get to return two cards from your inkwell at random back to your hand. While random, you are getting a refund of two cards, which can help refill your hand late in the game.

On your next turn, when you’re able to quest with Mufasa, his Everying the Light Touches ability will trigger, which readies all cards in your inkwell. This lets you play a six or seven ink card on your turn, quest for four lore, then potentially cast another six or seven card again, giving you a huge amount of value across two turns.
