Ubisoftis one of the most famous video game companies of all time. It’s also one of the most divisive. Some love Ubisoft’s signature brand of games, while others think its titles are all too similar. Yet, whatever side you fall on, it’s easy to forget that the company doesn’t just make Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry games. The studio has actually developed and published many different titles over the years.

Those not part of one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises often don’t get the appreciation they deserve, no matter how good they are. Along with them, there are some famous Ubisoft games that also fall into the underrated category because they receive more backlash than they deserve. Whatever the reason, the following Ubisoft titles don’t get enough credit.

Assassin’s Creed Unity Elise Making A Case For Unity

This collection is made up of games that Ubisoft either developed or published.

Because it had a lot of technical issues upon release, Assassin’s Creed Unity often gets regarded as a really bad game. Yet, once various patches made the title more playable, it actually became a solid game that is better than it often gets credit for being.

Single-player action in a lava level in Cloudberry Kingdom

Its story and characters are particularly compelling. Unlike many AC games, the narrative doesn’t just paint the Assassins as the heroes and Templars as the villains. There is more depth to it. On top of that, there is an interesting dynamic between protagonist Arno and his long-time friend Elise. The general gameplay is decent, too, as is the open world and side content.

7Cloudberry Kingdom

When you think of Ubisoft, you don’t usually think of platformers. However, the company published Pwnee Studios' underrated Cloudberry Kingdom. It’s a 2D platformer with very colorful levels and customizable characters.

The concept of the game is pretty simple. In each level, you just have to make it to the end goal without falling into a pit or getting hit by an obstacle. There is a bit of variety to levels, as sometimes you’ll be strapped to circular slabs and forced to roll, while other times you may be in control of a ship. There are, of course, just the regular jumping ones, too. The levels are somewhat easy at the start, but they get progressively more difficult. In fact, the latter ones are extremely tough.

Scott Pilgrim vs the world featuring Scott Pilgrim standing on grass while in fighting pose

Many people’s knowledge of Scott Pilgrim comes from the Michael Cera movie, but it was a comic before a film. That comic series is what this game is based on. Being based on a comic series that isn’t incredibly famous is probably why the game went under the radar a bit.

This is a shame since it’s a great beat ‘em up title that feels a bit like a throwback to the likes of Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. This is because it’s a 2D side-scroller where you walk through levels, beating up all sorts of goons.

Immortals Fenyx Rising - Fenyx flying and firing a bow at a griffin

Ubisoft is known for its open-world action-adventure games. Yet, Immortals Fenyx Rising feels different from the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry. In fact, itfeels a bit like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomdue to its colorful art style, traversal mechanics, and general tone.

Unlike the Zelda titles, though, this game is steeped in Greek Mythology. So, during the game, you face off against things like cyclopes and minotaurs. The combat is very fluid and satisfying. However, there is nothing more satisfying than flying across the game’s beautiful world. It’s one of Ubisoft’s better open-world titles, and it doesn’t often get enough credit for it.

4Uno

There’s only so much credit you can give Ubisoft for Uno. After all, the company didn’t invent the game. It just made a video game version of it. That said, it’s a very good version. The presentation is beautiful, as the cards are bright and vibrant.

Plus, the game allows you to turn on several classic house rules players have used for years, such as stacking draw cards. Also, because it’s a video game, you can play with friends online, which you can’t easily do with normal Uno. So, you could argue it’s the ultimate version of the card game.

Call Of Juarez Bound In Blood two brothers stand at the ready

For whatever reason, you don’t get a lot of high-profile games set in the Old West. Of course, there’s Red Dead Redemption, but the second-biggest series of Westerns in gaming is arguably Call of Juarez. However, Call of Juarez can’t be considereda series that has never had a bad game. In fact, half of the entries were heavily criticized.

As a result, the good ones, such as the Ubisoft-published Bound In Blood, have sometimes been overlooked. Yet, the title is a really good first-person shooter. The Old West-inspired presentation and environments are excellent. The story isn’t bad, either, as it revolves around the interesting relationship between three brothers.

Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope - Mario Peach Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach with Rabbid Mario giving heart eyes1

It still feels a little weird to see the name Mario in the title of a Ubisoft game. However, the little plumber and the rest of Mario’s universe came together with Ubisoft’s Rabbids series for two games. The second one, Mario and Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, is the superior title.

It’s an enjoyable turn-based strategy game where your crew consists of characters from both Mario and Rabbids. Each one has their own abilities. It’s very different from the typical Mario game, which is perhaps why the sales weren’t so great. As such, it’s one ofMario’s most underrated adventures.

Watch Dogs Legion ps5

Upon release, Watch Dogs: Legion wasn’t quite as well received as its predecessor, Watch Dogs 2, especially by players. Legion deserves more respect, though. It’s a very enjoyable, open-world action-adventure title. The setting of London is unique. After all, modern-day England isn’t a typical setting for video games.

On top of that, the fact you can recruit any random person from the street to join the protagonist group, Dedsec, and become a playable character is such an impressive feature. They even all have voices in cutscenes. Some also have special abilities and disguises, which separate them from one another. It’s not something you will see in most or maybe any other game. That alone deserves credit, especially for a studio that is often criticized for not trying new things.
