Summary

Tekken 8rounded out an incredibly busy year for big fighting games at the start of 2024, following on from the launches ofStreet Fighter 6andMortal Kombat 1. On top of avoiding clashes with either of those games,Bandai Namcoholding out until 2024 also means the newest game in the series was released during Tekken’s 30th anniversary year. Bandai hasn’t done much to celebrate that beyond a new game, but now plans for sneakers made in collaboration with Nike have been revealed, releasing this September.

Shared bySole Retriever, the Tekken trainers will come in two varieties - one modeled after Kazuya, and another that hasn’t been revealed yet based on Jin. The Kazuya sneakers have been made to mirror the fighter’s outfit. Mostly black and with a faux crocodile skin effect that makes the shoes seem as if they have been made with whatever was left over from making Kazuya’s coat. There are Tekken logos on the tongues, and the sneakers have been showcased in a box that’s been made to look like a copy of Tekken 8.

Both the Kazuya and Jin designs will be a part of Nike’s popular Air Foamposite One range. Nike only tends to release one new design per season in its Foamposite collection to keep fans interested, so news that two unexpected Tekken additions are joining the range will be welcomed by Tekken and sneaker aficionados alike. The Tekken sneakers will be released in September, breaking up the wait until the Galaxy Foamposites drop in February 2025.

Nike’s Kazuya Foamposite Ones

Even though the Jin sneakers haven’t been shown off yet, the implication appears to be that they will be available in September along with the Kazuya design. While it’s not clear what the Jin shoes will look like, they have also been inspired by the character’s appearance in Tekken 8, so now you know what the Kazuya sneakers look like, it might be a little easier to imagine what Nike’s Jin offering will look like too. The trainers won’t come cheap, priced at $250 per pair and available through Nike and SNKRS from September 2024.
