Summary
Super Mario Sunshineis one of the most polarizing Mario games to have ever been created. While full of groundbreaking ideas, theGameCubetitle’s frustrating cameras and even more frustrating level design mean the game isviewed in a complex way.
For the last four years, however, a team has been meeting with the goal, “What if we made Super Mario Sunshine, but good?” Thus, Super Mario Eclipse was born.
“The Much-Anticipated Revisit To Delfino”
Created by Eclipse Team, a group of modders, Super Mario Eclipse effectively rebuilds the whole of Super Mario Sunshine.
Described by its creators as “one of the most ambitiousMariofan projects of all time,” Eclipse reworks all 120 shrines from the original game for a “unique open-play experience.” The game will take place across Isle Delfino, with locations like Bianco Hills, Sirena Beach, and Noki Bay all seemingly making their returns.

Interestingly, although the developers did not list it, it becomes apparent in the trailer that there is a version ofSuper Mario 64’sPrincess Peach’s Castle in the game. The castle will be available for Mario to explore, along with the other two playable characters, Luigi and Piantissimo, all of whom are “wanted.”
