Summary

Starfieldhasa traityou can pick in the character creator called ‘Dream Home’ which starts you off with your own property right after you crawl from the opening tutorial. The only catch is that you have a mortgage of 125,000 Credits to pay off at GalBank—if you fail to make weekly payments of at least 500C, you’ll lose the keys. But what if you could turn the tables?

As reported byGamesRadar, modder 0xDezzy has released an enormous overhaul calledStarFinancewhich adds a new banking system, loans, a stock market, renting, andmore mortgages. If that starter home wasn’t enough, you can put down a deposit and start paying off even more properties. Better yet, rent them out at extortionate prices to make a profit.

That shack on an isolated planet six solar systems removed from intelligent life? A nice 2,500 Credits per month, thanks.

The stock market means that you can invest in businesses across the galaxy and either make big returns or lose all of your savings as you gamble that last Credit, with real-time market fluctuations taking place as you play.

All of this is built on the back of the new banking system, in which you can now open and manage a personal account at GalBank and earn interest on your savings. 0xDezzy even plans to add economic conditions to the game which will influence the wider economy.

Everyone Wants To Be An Evil Landlord

Last month, a newFable 4trailer seemingly confirmed thatthe series' iconic—and frankly twisted—landlord system is returning. If you haven’t played the games before, you could buy all of the property in Albion and raise the taxes so high that the economy would crumble while you line your pockets.

I’m not sure if you can take thingsthat farwith this Starfield mod, but the principle is the same. Buy all of the expensive property, take out a bunch of mortgages, rent them for twice the value, rake in the profit, and create a galactic monopoly so soul-crushing that people move back tothe dustbowl we once called Earth.
