Summary

Star Wars Outlawsmight have a Wanted system that’s similar toGrand Theft Auto, but don’t expect Kay Vess to be shooting or stealing from friendly NPCs.

Although it’s fair to say that most of us were expecting Star Wars Outlaws tofollow a very similar pattern to other open-world games from Ubisoft, that’s actually not the case. While there aresomemechanics that anyone who has played Far Cry or Assassin’s Creed will find familiar, itmanages to stray away from that formula and do its own thing, while incorporating features from other open-world titles.

Star Wars Outlaws Kay Piloting The Trailblazer With A Rodian Character Named Waka.

One of those games is, surprisingly enough, Grand Theft Auto. If you’re caught doing crimes in Star Wars Outlaws,a massive “Wanted” symbol will flash on your screen and the Empire will hunt Kay and Nix down. We saw a glimpse of this during the gameplay reveal trailer, but it turns out that’s about as similar to GTA as things can get.

Kay Vess Can’t Kill Or Steal From Friendly NPCs In Star Wars Outlaws

As reported by GamesRadar+, YouTuber JorRaptor recentlyshared some of his impressions and findings from getting to go hands-on with Star Wars Outlaws for four hours. One of those notes is that there isn’t a way to kill or steal from friendly civilians, something that I can confirm to be the case from my time with the game last month.

That doesn’t come as too much of a surprise considering Star Wars Outlaws is a much more friendly game and Kay Vess isn’t as deadly as Niko Bellic or Trevor Phillips, but it does mean that NPCs aren’t as interactable as they are in those games. You can still go on a bit of a rampage, but it’s going to take more work.

While it might come as a bit of a disappointment that NPCs can’t be messed with, I will stand up for Outlaws' Wanted system,as one of my favourite moments from my previewhappened after I was chased down by a bunch of Imps in Speeders.

From what I played of Outlaws, it seems like you may only really attack and steal from enemy NPCs, such as the ones in factions. Seeing as how you can change your allegiance with each faction, it’s not clear if you can then attack or steal from them anyway once you’re a bit more friendly with them.
