The indie sandbox action simulator, which sees a squirrel given a range of guns to play with, releases today. To celebrate, the team at Dee Dee Creations has set up some guns in a backyard for actual squirrels to play with.
Real Squirrel With A Real Gun
The game, in which you play as an “obnoxious rodent” and “develop a knack (and a love?) for crime and mayhem in pursuit of golden acorns,” looks set to become an indie hit. With a range of guns, including pistols, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and a bunch of different outfits for your squirrel protagonist, the game is prime “switch your brain off” material.
Ahead of itslaunch later today, the development team has set up a squirrel playground in YouTuberBackyard Buddies’garden. Backyard Buddies usually streams the wildlife seen in their garden; however, this time, things are a little crazier. In the main area, a sniper rifle has been set up, pointed towards a big tower of nuts, which itself contains at least two smaller guns. A revolver points towards the sniper, giving the potential for some major squirrel warfare.
The stream also has a second area set up with a red convertible sports car hosting an assault rifle, pointed at a bowl of nuts, ready to take out any unsuspecting squirrel brave enough to consider grabbing a snack.
This livestream could have also provided the Dee Dee Creations team with ideas for a sequel toSquirrel with a Gun, as alongside the squirrels, there have been chipmunks and birds with guns, which, to me, seems perfect for a follow-up.
Although quite clearly a marketing ploy, it’s an effective one, and I’ll certainly be watching the antics these squirrels get up to throughout the day.
