Summary

Want to feel old?Skyrimis almost 13 years old now. Despite its age, though, the cult classic still garners tens of thousands of players every single day. While there’s plenty to keep players active across the lands of Tamriel, players like to take the role-playing element to the next level.

With thousands of different items in Skyrim, a surprisingly common mission players set themselves is to collect as many of a singular object as possible. This has now reached Reddit, with residents of the Tamriel region sharing their own collection goals.

A set of books are laid out on a table, next to some candles.

The Books Of Skyrim

One of the most commonly collected items in the game isbooks. The game reportedly has337 different titlesfor players to read, totaling 316,000 words, making it a healthy collection challenge.

The beauty of books is their utility. The items can not only be read toenhance skillsbut also displayed, with one player sharing, “I organize them in my house by genre,” adding that with every playthrough of the game, they create “a library in the houses I build.”

Skyrim Ancient Nord Armor

While some players like to organize them, others just like to have them. Another player shared that they have Lucien Flavius “carrying almost every single book, note and letter” in the game, with the character lugging almost 200 pounds of the item around.

The Boots Of Skyrim

Books are a fairly normal thing for people to collect. Boots, maybe not.

Reddit usercerart939commented that they had collected footwear for a while and “never realized there are so many variations of boots.” The task became a bit much, though, and the commenter added that after a while, they “dumped them all in the square in Riften.”

Strangely, cerart wasn’t the only one collecting boots, with another user sharing that they collected vampire boots because “nothing compares fashionably AND as light armor.”

“Skulls For My Skull Throne”

Initially, I saw somebody share that they collectedskullsfor their “skull throne” and dismissed it as a one-off; however, weirdly, Mr. Skull Throne wasn’t the only one.

A second player shared that they like to collect skulls to “fill up my display cases with.” Unlike books, Skyrim has onlyone type of skull, which makes the concept of this display utterly terrifying.

Other Weird Collections

One player shared that they like to collect ladles because they “think it would annoy NPCs the most.” The logical explanation behind this was that “everywhere only has ladles as the closest utensil to a spoon,” and therefore, “if you steal their ladles, you’ve just deprived several holds the ability to eat soup without spilling everywhere.”

Multiple other players in Skyrim had healthycheesecollections, with one playerspecifically collecting fondue. While cheese may seem like afairly normalitem to collect, another player collects potatoes, leek, cabbages, and wheat, which they then “sell to the farmers in Rorikstead.”
