Summary
In case you missed it, and quite frankly, we don’t blame you if you did,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguelaunched its Season 2 update. The update adds Mrs. Freeze as a playable character, along with a major shakeup in the game’s overall plot.
Spoilers for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to follow
After having previously been leaked online, Season 2 confirmed what fans had been guessing all along. That is, that the Justice League aren’t actually dead. All those “heroes” that were killed off in the base game were simply corrupted clones. The real Justice League is still out there and needs some saving, beginning with the reveal of The Flash, who is very much alive and also not corrupted.
That said, it’s a major development, but it appears that it wasn’t enough to draw players back in. Because, according toSteamDB, the number of players at Season 2’s launch wasn’t that much materially different than the number already playing. In other words, unless something changes, then Season 2 will almost assuredly be a flop.

Season 2 Peaked At Just 572 Players
For some background,Season 2 debuted on July 25, andthe overall 24-hour peak for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was just 572 players, which happened to be on July 25.
In the time since then, that number has slowly been dwindling to where things roughly were pre-Season 2.Over the last week, the game has had as many as 572 players and as little as 40. Of course, SteamDB isn’t the be-all or end-all when it comes to metrics, but it is a good indicator. It’s an especially good indicator when considering the fact that, just a short bit ago,the game was given away for free in celebration of Amazon Prime Day.
To this point, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have stressed that they will see through the game’s planned Year One roadmap. After that, it’s anyone’s guess as to what happens next. That’s because a Warner Bros. spokesperson told IGN, “We are not yet discussing anything that is not announced,” which isn’t necessarily a good indicator.
Only two seasons remain in the Year 1 roadmap, and if the big plot twist wasn’t enough to get people back as is, then it’s hard to imagine later seasons making any difference.
