Summary
Everyone’s favorite sandwich-eating anthropomorphic dog might be returning to the world of video games. No, we’re not talking about PaRappa the Rapper. We’re talking about Scooby-Doo and his band of friends.
According to Matthew Lillard, who has been the longtime voice of Shaggy, Scooby’s partner-in-crime, he’s currently working on a new Scooby-Doo “experience” that isn’t a cartoon. That information comes via an Instagram post, where Lillard also notes that “we need some fans to playtest it.”

The link in his bio points to a website, where interested fans can input their information and desire to be part of the “beta experience.” At the time of writing, it’s still unclear what exactly is being playtested, or what exactly the “beta experience” is related to. For all we know, it could be some online multiplayer experience, or some type of themed digital experience that involves fan input.
That said, there’s also the possibility that an iconic Scooby-Doo video game could return to the mainstream.
Night Of 100 Frights Would Be A Dream Come True
Despite having an iconic lineage of cartoons, toys and movies, Scooby-Doo surprisingly does not have the same level of notoriety when it comes to video games. Truth be told, only a handful of games exist, and an even smaller number are particularly memorable.
However, among the small list stands Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights, a 2002 platformer that appeared on thePlayStation 2,XboxandGameCube. It’s a cult classic among Scooby-Doo fans and gamers of that era. It stands out not only because of how well-received it was, but for the fact that it was published by THQ.
THQ, which has now been rebranded to THQ Nordic, has made a considerable effort when it comes to licensed video games.Fans might recall that THQ Nordic was the publisher behind the 2020 remake of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. Thatgame sold over two million copiesand even spawned a spiritual successor in the form ofThe Cosmic Shake.
In other words, if there was ever a Scooby-Doo game that would get the remake treatment, it would be 100 Frights, and if there was ever a time to do it, then it would be now, considering the previous success that THQ Nordic has had with past titles. Of course, until something is announced, all of this remains a pipe dream. But what a dream come true it would be for fans if it were true.
