Summary
Pikachu is the star of thePokemon TCG’snext expansion, with Scarlet & Violet: Surging Sparks bringing a terastallised Pikachu ex this November.
Alongside Pikachu, a number of new Dragon-type Pokemon are also on their way, cementing the Scarlet & Violet era as one of the most Dragon-heavy in the game’s history.

Surging Sparks is adapted from two different Japanese sets, Supercharged Breaker and Paradise Dragona. As you may probably glean from the names, one had an emphasis on Lightning-type Pokemon, giving Surging Sparks its Pikachu theme, while the other brings the Dragons. The whole thing is themed around the video games’ second DLC, The Indigo Disk, and its Terarium location.
Ace Specs, Stellar Tera ex Cards, And Alolan Exeggutor
Alongside Pikachu ex, Surging Sparks will include eight moreACE SPECcards, which were reintroduced to the game earlier this year in Temporal Forces. It’ll also include nine Stellar Tera ex Pokemon, which are set to be introduced next month inStellar Crown, and have attacks that require three different types of energy to use.So far, the only other Stellar Pokemon confirmed is Alolan Exeggutor ex.
Surging Sparks will include more of the stuff we’ve come to expect from the Scarlet & Violet era, too. Nine regular ex Pokemon, 23 illustration rares, 11 Pokemon and Supporter cards, and a whopping six golden secret rares that often become some of the most sought-after in an expansion.

Though we only know Alolan Exeggutor and Pikachu are getting the ex treatment for certain, the other booster pack art does tease that Daruladon and Latios and Latias will be putting in an appearance in another way. Perhaps as ex Pokemon, or perhaps just as powerful regular ones in the expansion.
Surging Sparks will be launching with the full product lineup of booster packs, boxes, prerelease kits, six-booster bundles, and a Pikachu-emblazoned Elite Trainer Box. However, it isn’t launching alone, as coming a few weeks later isa special crossover release with the Pokemon Horizons anime, bringing characters like new leads Liko and Roy to the TCG for the first time.

Scarlet & Violet: Surging Sparks will launch on November 8 in tabletop play, and a day earlier – November 7 – on Pokemon TCG Live. Before then, we have September’s Stellar Crown expansion and a new BOOster Bundle to look forward to.
