Summary
Rollerdromelaunched two years ago today and was met with positive reviews across the board. It was nominated for a Golden Joystick and later won a BAFTA for best British game. However, for whatever reason, things don’t seem to have gone well for developer Roll7 since then, as no games have launched since.
It was previously reported that Roll7 is being shut down byTake-Two, a claim that the company has denied. However, the Twitter account for the studio has been inactive since April, since Take-Two rolled out company-wide layoffs, sparking further fears that it’s been shuttered.

Now, it’s clearer that not all is well behind the scenes, as one of the developers of Rollerdrome says that no one who worked on the game is at the company anymore. Due to this, she encourages anyone interested in playing it to pirate the game, since the devs have no ownership over it any way.
Rollerdrome Dev Says You Should Pirate The Game
“Happy two-year anniversary to my favourite game that I worked on,” says Anisa Sanusi, former senior UI/UX designer. “Please pirate it because none of us work at the company that owns this anymore.”
Sanusi has also previouslybacked upreports that Roll7 has been shut down by Take-Two. The publisher has been evasive about this, saying that it “didn’t shutter” the studio, but has also refused to answer follow-up questions about whether Roll7 still exists (viaIGN). In any case, it does seem that the entire Rollerdrome dev team either left or was caught up in the Take-Two layoffs earlier this year.
Rollerdrome was far from Roll7’s only hit. It was also known for the OlliOlli skateboarding game series, with the last entry,OlliOlli World, launching in 2022 alongside Rollerdrome. Since then, the studio has released no more games, further suggesting that the company no longer exists, or at least, not in the form it was in when these games launched.
