Summary
There are 12SquishmallowsinPokemon’s collection so far - one each for ten different Pokemon, and two for Pikachu. Except that’s not technically true. Last year, Pikachu had the honor of getting a third Squishmallow. It was only available for a limited time though as it featured the anime’s most famous creation wearing a Santa hat. Clearly Christmas Pikachu must have sold well as Pokemon and Jazwares will return this holiday season with another limited edition Pikachu Squishmallow.
No, August isn’t over yet, but you know as well as I do that preparations for the the holidays, particularly when it comes to the retail industry, begin very early. As we cling to the dying embers of summer, Target has waded in to remind us that before we know it, it’ll be snowing again and we’ll be frantically buying gifts before it’s too late. One of those gifts might well be a Pikachu Squishmallow wearing a woolly hat, coming exclusively to Target this Christmas.
A first look at the holiday Squishmallow has been shown off by Target (thanks,PokemonRestocks). Much like last year’s Santa Hat Squishmallow, the only place you will be able to buy Winter Pikachu is Target, presumably both in-store and online. The Squishmallow is more or less the same as the regular Pikachu plush that was part of Pokemon’s original wave. However, this Pikachu will be wearing a winter-themed hat. Light blue like ice with snowflakes printed on it and a white bobble on top. Oh and holes cut into it so Pikachu’s ears can poke through.
Another Pikachu Has Hit Pokemon’s Squishmallow Collection
Target hasn’t confirmed a price or a release date for its Winter Pikachu Squishmallow. My guess is it will be available to buy towards the end of October and likely cost in the region of $29.99.It’ll join Fuecoco and Bellibolt, Pokemon’s newest two Squishmallows that are now available to buy at the Pokemon Center. Both might be available elsewhere by the time Winter Pikachu is here too. Pokemon’s Squishmallows are Pokemon Center exclusives at first but eventually get rolled out to different retailers in various sizes.
Sidestepping away from Pokemon Squishmallows, collectors of Pokemon’s sleeping plushes also have reason to be excited as we head into the fall.Rockruff is joining the sleeping plush collection, seemingly another Target exclusive. Pokemon’s sleeping plushes are almost as popular as its Squishmallows. Particularly Cubone whobroke fan hearts after it was revealeddue to the single tear embroidered in the corner of the plush’s eye.
