Summary

Despite the synergyPokemondemonstrates across pretty much everything it creates, there has never been much crossover between the anime and the TCG. Not none at all, but very little compared to how much the TCG and the video games team up. That’s how a smaller announcement somewhat buried undertoday’s Surging Sparks revealis a pretty big deal. A Grand Adventure Collection is coming later this year, and the set is a crossover with the latest chapter of the anime, Pokemon Horizons.

The Grand Collection will feature Pokemon Horizons' leads, Liko and Roy. Significant not only because it will be the first time the trainers have ever appeared in the TCG, but also because Ash Ketchum, the star from which Liko recently took the anime reigns, never got his own Pokemon card. Ash’s Pikachu featured in the TCG a few times, and even his Greninja has its own card, but when Liko makes her TCG debut, she will be doing something her anime predecessor never did. Pretty impressive for a trainer who hasn’t even been around for two years yet.

Liko and Roy’s partner Pokemon will also be getting their own Pokemom cards much quicker than Ash’s Pikachu did. Pokemon hasn’t revealed much about The Grand Collection, but we do know Liko and Roy’s Sprigatito and Fuecoco will be a part of it. The Grand Collection will seemingly be a set you’ll need to buy all in one go as its description reveals it contains four Scarlet & Violet booster packs, two promo cards, and an oversized card with the Pokemon: Horizons logo on it.

Pokemon Horizons Comes To The Pokemon TCG On November 15

The Grand Collection will be available to buy through the Pokemon Center from July 16, 2025. If you need your Pokemon TCG fix now, the announcement that The Grand Collection reveal accompanied was thatthe Surging Sparks expansion is available for pre-order now. Listings for its Elite Trainer Box, Booster Packs, Booster Display Bundles, and Booster Bundles are all available now.

Another big milestone for thePokemon TCGthat now has a date attached to it is the arrival of Pokemon TCG Pocket. Revealed during this year’s Pokemon Day celebrations, Pocket is a virtual way to collect Pokemon cards and it will launch on mobile on October 30. Attendees at last week’s World Championships were given the chance to be among the first to play Pocket, using big screens to open up packs and get a better feel for the game.
