Summary
We’re now just a couple of weeks away from 2024’s Pokemon World Championships, where the best and brightestPokemon TCG,Scarlet and Violet,Pokemon Unite, andPokemon GOplayers will compete for the World Champion title.
Shortly after the World Championships, The Pokemon Company has announced fundamental changes will be coming to theVGC’s Regulation H.

“Announcing Regulation Set H for Ranked Battles!”
In a post on its website,The Pokemon Companyconfirmed the new ruleset for the upcoming regulation H, which runs between Saturday, July 17, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, July 19, 2025, at 3:59 p.m. PST.
While shake-ups are common during each regulation change, the company has announced something it has rarely done: it will restrict a huge number of Pokemon from battle, including every singleLegendary Pokemonand everyParadox Pokemon. Previously, one “restricted Pokemon,” which typically included Legendaries, was allowed.

It has been confirmed that regional Pokemon from theHisuiandGalarregions can be used, but outside of that there has been a major cull of some of the game’s most popular, most powerful creatures.
This means that meta Legendaries likeShadow Rider Calyrex,Zacian,Miraidon, and Koraidonwill no longer be available, and neither will the likes of Flutter Mane or Iron Bundle. Outside of this, however, “Paldea Pokédex No. 001–375 and 388–392, Kitakami Pokédex No. 001–196, and Blueberry Pokédex No. 001–235, as well as certain other Pokémon are eligible to participate.”
This is likely to spark a seismic shift in the way trainers do battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with a major meta alteration inbound. But, while drastic, the change is more than likely to be seen as a positive one, with certain Pokemon being utterly dominant throughout this rotation.
